server did not show the email in the bulk/spam folder, keep on server set for both laptop and smartphone. desktop did not show it in the junk/spam folder either. i have never seen this happen & cannot figure it out.

sounds like u did not have an administrator password/profile on these machine. maybe u should consider doing this on new machines and not run into this situation again.

as soon as i get a new machine loaded and running the way i want it i run Belarc Advisor, save the file on a different machine, and print off the info and save it with my importanat computer papers. it lists all of the software packages...
i was fortunate in that once i deleted the culprit exe file i immediately ran MWB.
did not have to go with those you mention, even so you are correct in running them.

my daughter caught this and it took me all day to get to where i could finally run MalwareBytes
the obnoxious service & file was fwb.exe
once i stopped the service and edited the registry to get rid of it Malwarebytes took care of the rest.

turn off all junk mail settings on your isp
use TBs junk mail settings on both the laptop and desktop
turn off the option to mark emails as read on the server once they are viewed, because if the laptop gets the email before your desktop and marks it as read then your desktop will not get those...
