>How can the -84 errors to show up in the activity monitor >without going into detailed status?
I doubt they can.
Every single time I have seen 84 errors it's been due to bad media (as you are establishing) or unreliable drives.
I'd start with getting some new media in as fast as possible and...
Um, the same way you would normally restore any files after a successful import - via the Restore GUI on the Master or the Client GUI on the target file server.
Did you read the Admin Guide on how to perform this type of Import and Restore?

There is a section in Admin Guide1 for protecting large backups. I use it here as our catalogue backups run to over 300Gb daily, so it's a struggle. It's also scripted, and can be scheduled accordingly in cron.
You can back up the catalogue onto any media server that has connectivity into the...
So, in the policy Backup Selections tab you have:
/u01/oradatabackups
/u01/staging
Yes?
Excludes are best used where the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES directive in in place, and specific files/folders are to be excluded at that level.
For what you want to do, erase the current exclude list and just...
Encryption or Compression. Choose one or the other, AFAIK you cannot have both under Netbackup.
Larger capacity tapes would be the (very expensive) answer, as for 200Gb LTO2 tapes you would need LTO2 drives.
Is the encryption absolutely necessary?

Bob,
In all seriousness I would tick them all. That's how I've had all my NBU systems set for several years. It does cover all the bases.
NBU uses a version of tar anyway, doesn't it?

Comtec - thanks for that.
Can the existing drives attached over fibre to the filer be used for this duplication? Is that supported or even possible as they are NDMP drives? Or should I define two more drives to the media server the storage unit is running on for these dupes?
Tim
I have four NetApp filers each with two LT0-2 tape drives attached over SAN for three-way backups.
(Robot control is handled by the Master server)
What's the best practice for Vaulting these backups? Do I need more tape drives to be made available to the media server that holds the storage...
What do you see using wireless?
Can you lock the ethernet ports on the router and your laptop to 100Mb/Full Duplex and see if that makes any difference?
Hi. I just looked on Google.
I assume you have been here: http://europe.nokia.com/cda1?id=2411 ?
It doesn't look as if there are any specific WinXP drivers for this card, as it's rather old. The latest ones available are for Windows NT4.0.
Have you tried these?
Tim
Hi Les,
Most routers are supplied with a short length of ethernet cable to allow you to connect it "wired" (as they mostly also are a 4-port "switch" as well) so you can then access the management interface to enable the wireless elements.
Any decent computer shop will sell you a WI-FI pci...
Tom.
The Set Program Access and Defaults option is installed with SP2 (and may have been with SP1, I don't recall) and allows you to change the default choice for web browsers, email clients, media players to those other than supplied by MS as part of Windows.
It should be on your Start Menu...
