We just switched from McAfee, we love it. The enterprise products make keeping the workstations/server update, both engines and pattern files, consistent and easy.
We're getting ready to roll out Trend Micro throughout the entire organization. We've been running McAfee all along, had some trouble (see the thread here, our problems mirror what's there...) We'll be using SMS to push to the '95 clients, the rest with Trend utility. We'll see how it goes...
Unless you're going to be doing other things with the server a single fast processor with the aforementioned should suffice. Maybe a multiple tape machine if you anticipate using more than one tape in a run.

Maybe the disk subsystem driver in NT is looking for the old controller, and, finding the new 5300. Seems to me that this would cause a BSOD.

I have a similar problem using BE7.0 on a compaq proliant, using compaq's 35/70 dlt drive. I'm ok on throughput until i add a couple of servers across town, then the backup time spikes to 18 - 19 hours for the job. I appears to be a choke point in the network connectivity between my backup...
