I have recently installed Office 2003 pro. When Outlook is running the windows installer dialogue box pops up, locks up the machine for a minute or two then dissappears. Obviously I wish to stop this happening. Any hints would be appreciated. (XP Pro SP1)
You have basically answered your own question. When the other box is repaired the users should experience better performance. They can still login as they are authenticating to other dc's in the domain.

You say you are a novell person does that also relate to your current LAN ie its Novell?
Are we to assume that the dc you are adding is win2k or better? Why are the sql servers not on the domain?
Are there other dc's on that domain?

A better and more easily managed method would be to create a group/s that is allowed access to the printer i.e <printer name> Colour and <printer name> BlackWhite. Add and remove users to the groups as required.

The fact that you have a usb capable machine does not assume that anything attached to this interface will be automatically recognised. What type of devices are you attempting to use on the interface?
