    i'll have to run down to the machine during the user's lunch break to get it. the last time i did an ipconfig /all while troubleshooting it did show the correct DNS/WINS information for the client. i'll post back here in a little bit.

    hello bcastner, the DNS client service is started and running along with DHCP, SERVER, and WORKSTATION services. i made the change on the DHCP server to let the clients register with DNS now to see if anything would change and so far it hasn't worked.

    it's possible that scavenging may not be running. check to see if it is turned on for the forward and reverse lookup zones. if not, turn it on and accept the defaults of 7 days for each listing. hope this helps...

    Found the area in the registry where the routes would be hiding: (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\ PersistentRoutes there was nothing there :-( anyone else know of anything? RRAS is not configured. Where are these entries coming from?

    Cannot locate domain controller

    Have you tried manually entering in the DNS server addresses into the clients? This has worked for me several times. Also, I think there is a way to enable logging (I know you can do it for the DCPROMO process) and maybe this would tell us what is happening. But usually this is a DNS issue.
