DHCP not removing A/PTR records from DNS

I have my DHCP setup to register A and PTR records in DNS, and to also remove those records when the lease expires.

All clients are W2K or XP Pro.

Looking at my DNS entries in the forward lookup zone, I see records for hosts that were removed from the network months ago. In the reverse lookup zone, there are multipe entires for each IP address in the scope since each time a different host gets an IP, it records a new record.

Why aren't these records being removed by DHCP?

TIA

it's possible that scavenging may not be running. check to see if it is turned on for the forward and reverse lookup zones. if not, turn it on and accept the defaults of 7 days for each listing. hope this helps...
