    datastage basic write statement

To write multiple fields to the same record do the following (using your 4 field example). Instead of: writev field1 to file,key,1 else... writev field2 to file,key,2 else... writev field3 to file,key,3 else... writev field4 to file,key,4 else... Use...

    inString function

If you are using DS BASIC that would be INDEX, ie STRING="Has Spaces" LOC=INDEX(STRING," ",1) In the above example, LOC would contain 4.

Are there any books on learning DS Basic?

DataStage does not actually use uniVerse (as most know it) anymore. It is based on revision 9.6 of uniVerse and has taken its own development path; for example, don't expect things in rev 10+ of universe to work in the DS version.

    DS BASIC Question.

Actually, a Type 1 file is a non-hashed directory with a built-in name "chunking" mechanism the provides compatibility with old-style (ie 1980's and earlier!) UNIX systems which had a 14 character file/directory naming limitation; this cannot be disabled. A Type 19 file is also a non-hashed...

    Moving mailboxes, address book etc.

make certain you also move the *.ini files, though in eudora.ini you'll have to update certain entries from your old path to the new path.

Unhandled Exception error when starting Eudora

It actually sounds more like the version of MFC42.DLL is either corrupted or different from the original. You could try running "sfc" to check if the base XP files are the correct ones. My MFC42.dll is version 6.0.8665.0 having a size of 972 KB (995,383 bytes). I haven't experienced a single...

How make quote reply below signature?

No can do. Eudora always appends signature to end of message.

Trouble opening hyperlinks in Eudora Message

Its not the URL extension you change. Near the top of the file association list you should see an Internet Explorer icon, with (possibly) the word NONE within parenthesis, followed by "URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol" under the "File Types" column (which really is a description column but let's...

    Eudora / Internet Explorer conflict

I agree. Opera is my default browser too.

Trouble opening hyperlinks in Eudora Message

Open windows explorer, tools, folder options, file types tab. Scroll down to the respective item, in this instance URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and make the described change. Click OK all the way back and voila! done.

Trouble opening hyperlinks in Eudora Message

Sounds like an ill-formed URL association. Make certain that the: URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol association is: open (set to default) Application to use is: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome %1 using DDE (checked box) with settings: dde message: "%1",,-1,0...

    Eudora / Internet Explorer conflict

On the font size, I've not found a fix except to NOT use the MS viewer. Don't see any difference with it on or off (doesn't look awful either way). Have not seen the preview pane problem. I rarely keep more than 2 open at a time. Good luck!

Using Sponsored Mode with a Mobile Phone Connection

It actually stops downloading the ads.

    turning off overwrite

I don't think this is a function of Eudora, but rather a toggle. Look in the lower right of the Eudora status bar. If you are in overwrite mode, you should see OVR (to the right of NUM). Toggle this using the INSERT key on your keyboard. The OVR should disappear and you will be in INSERT...

    Change Browser used by Eudora

No. Eudora uses the default browser you've defined on your (windows) system. If you are on a Mac, you can select your browser.

Read a 2 key Hash File from a rountine. Is this possible?

The READL statement requires you specify the KEY of the item to be read. Only a single KEY is acceptable. As your KEY consists of two columns, colA and colB in your example, you need to artificially fabricate those two columns into a single KEY value, i.e. colA:@TM:colB. You must use the @TM to...

what is an asp.net user on XP ?

This is caused by the .NET Framework Update from Microsoft. It creates an additional user account called ASP.NET, which you can see in the Control Panel > User Accounts applet.

unable to unlink all deleted messages ERR

From eudora support site: This could be due to multiple personalities checking the same POP account, or it could be caused by a corrupted Leave Mail On Server file. To check for multiple Personalities that access the same POP account, click on Tools: Personalities. In the Personalities...

Selective downloading of email on server

I believe this feature has been there for quite a while. I've been using Eudora for a LONG time, and it's always been there. I do recall seeing documentation on this somewhere though....

QTASK.EXE There is no disk in drive message

QuickTime places (the very useless) QTask.exe in your startup folder or registry start area. You don't need it to run QuickTime. You can click the Qtask icon in your task bar and uncheck the Run at startup option. ==OR== Click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK. Click the System...
