I use Eudora 6.1 in Sponsored Mode. I recently travelled abroad for
3 months accessing my email twice a week using my laptop connected
to the Internet using a GSM Mobile phone. The connection is only
9200bps but that is fine for email. However, after about a month
bEudora started popping up a message saying it wasn't getting any
new ads and asking me to go to their Web site to read all about the
problem. If I was able to get on line long enough to do that I
wouldn't have had the problem!!!!
I deleted the Ad Cache as directed and contined for a further 6
weeks with the popup message getting steadily more insistent, but
even if I stayed on line for an extra minute or so, it still
couldn't (or wouldn't) download new ads. Eventually, just as I
arrived home, it gave up on me and said it was reverting to Light
Mode but, fortunately, being back home I was on a landline
connection, it got its new ads and all was well.
I am worried about waht to do for the future. Does this mean that
Sponsored Mode is just not available to a Mobile Phone User?
On a related point, if I fork out for Paid Mode, I know I won't get
any ads, but will Eudora stop trying to log on to the ad-server
sites or just stop displaying them.
