Is there any kind of numeric limitation on the quantity of files and/or folders in either XP or Vista? I keep pictures(9800 files, 160 folders, 14.4GB) and music(1623 files, 103 folders, 5.4GB) in my C: drive directory and had been considering moving it under My Documents in XP so that it would...
I have struggled with the above problem for a week. I have been searching the Internet for suggestions and decided I would enter it into the forum. As soon as I entered it into the forum, it was resolved!!!(???) Don't ask me how or why because I haven't a clue but it is now working properly...
I have google set as my homepage on IE7 running XP_Pro SP2. The icon or the (favicon) the icon for identified websites for google got corrupted somehow and now where I click on Google a different icon for Google comes up instead of the Colored G. Does anybody have any suggestions about how to...
Is there a setting that I have missed that allows me to open a new tab that is an identical url as the old tab? Like cloning or duplicating a tab? I looked through the shortcuts but didn't see anything that sounded like what I am looking for. IE6 had that function and you can force Firefox to...
Is there any advantage to inserting a router between the cpu and the ADSL modem to act as a hardware firewall? What I am really wondering is if the modem provided by SBC has any firewall capabilities at all? If there is an advantage to another router, can I use just a normal cable/dsl router...
I downloaded the TweakUI for the explorer enhancements and ran the executable. I presume the executable generates a program that allows control of explorer but I can't find where the application is stored?
Thanks to all of you. I had forgotten about the "services" function int the administrative tools section of the control panel. I found "securty center", went to the properties settings and changed it from "auto" to "manual". Zonealarm tells me when anti-virus needs checking. Thanks again.
My windows Firewall does show "Off" I do not see a Recomendation box. On the "On/Off" screen there are only two choices On Off. The tabs on the top are General, which is where the on/off switch. The exceptions tab and the advanced tab. Am I missing something?
I have decided to use Zonealarm as my firewall. The Microsoft Firewall continues to stay in the Quick Launch toolbar and continues to "expand out" and say my machine isn't protected. How do I disable and remove the firewall icon from the quick launch toolbar?
If I remember right, I had difficulty using Ghost to clone a drive over the original USB 1.X ports. When it didn't seem to work and I was short on time, I just hooked the hard drive up to the 2 spot on the ribbon cable and cloned from there. Since both drives were hooked to the same ribbon...
After 42 critical updates, 20+ reboots and 3 hours the updates have all been added; however the same problem still exists. Have you seen any information on correcting attribute records in the start up? I don't know whether the problem being indetified by chkdsk is coming from the registry or...
I have been using the ghost version out of Systemworks 2003 and clone disk to disk, rather than do an image. You have to make startup diskettes to do the cloning because it starts in DOS so it copies the disk exactly. I ended up putting in a USB2.0 card from $9 from Fryes and it works very...
