ok i worked out the problem,
its to do with the links folder in favorites.
You have to modify a reg key, delete the folder in favorites, + in this case desktop and reboot

Ok i worked out what you can do
create a wsus server
copy the WsusContent from the working server to the new server
find wsusutil.exe once WSUS it is installed
run "wsusutil.exe export export.cab export.log" on the working server
copy the export.cab to the new server
run "wsusutil.exe import...

on the options page the server selected to update from was an internal (parent) server
once it updated there is no option to change it back to get it from the microsoft servers. And i was reading...

what that is if you have 2 servers, you can replicate data to both servers and only use 1 location
so if you have \\domain\share
