My thoughts are:
Intel currently has more heat issues than AMD. Thus they needed to design the BTX form factor to keep their systems cool enough, with out sounding like a vaccume.
If you want a future proof machine, go with the AMD Socket 754 based machine. Those machines are going to be...
Thanks. I didn't think there would be much diffrence.
I run my WinXP boxen at home with the Windows 2000 style them, Max Performance on Visual Effects. System is so much snappier that way.
Are there any appreciable diffrences in battery life on idential system running Win2000 Pro vs WinXP Pro? If running XP, Visual Effects will be set to Max Performance settings.
Machine in question is 1ghz/256mb RAM HP Omnibook 510
I have 10 18gb disks, and I would like to use all in RAID 5 array, however, they are 1.6" disks. The drive cage on my Proliant holds 6 full hieght disks, but 3 need to be used for a system partition. I need to get a Storage System rack, to place the other 7 disks. I would like to make...
Can I span a RAID 5 volume across storage systems? Such as using a Smart2/DH to create a RAID 5 volume consisting of 6 disks in a StorageSystem U2, and 4 disks in the drive cage of a Proliant 3K? Or would all disks have to be on the same channel, using multiple StorageSystems?
I have tried the board with the CPU and VRM from the board it is replacing, a 300mhz PII, with Compaq VRM Spare # 299306-001
Memory is Crucial CT32M72S4R7E, PC133 ECC Registered.
I originally tried the board with 2xPIII 550, and Compaq 157825-001 VRMs.
Jumper settings are correct as per the...
I scored 10x IBM 18gb 1.6" SCA drives on for $70, and accquired some SCA trays, with various dead drives (Compaq 18.2 and 9.1), and dropped my IBMs in, and all works fine.
Just need more SCA trays now.
I have a Proliant 3000 with 100mhz FSB board, that won't boot. The only sign of life it gives, is a little orange LED near the center of the board, just below the PCI slots.
Anyone have any idea what this could be, or know where I can find a trouble shooting manual?
I just bought a P3 board for my Proliant 3000 6/300. I don't currently have any ECC Registered SDRAM, will the system boot with just ECC PC100?
I want to make sure that the system board is not DOA.
Is there anything that would stop one from replaceing the 4.3GB drive in a Proliant 3000 drive sled (199598-001) with a larger drive? The electronis on the sled look dumb, so I am guessing there wouldn't, but I have been known to be wrong. I should be able to replace it with any 68pin LVD...
