I've been noticing a great many people are looking for tutorials to help develope their techniques. While I was searching I found these resources which I thought might be helpful.
The easiest way I've found for searching for tutorials is simply to go to www.google.com and type After Effect...
P.S. I have found this page ehich others might find useful.

in the mean time, if anyone has any further advice as to where I'd find real meaty tutorials I'd be grateful
Does anyone know of any advanced online tutorials for expressions? I know a fair amount but am finding it hard taking what I know further.
Thanks for any help.

The Wiggler is a feature found in the production bundle version of after effects and is used to add a random element to you key frames. The manual says (pp.391, 392):
"You can add randomness to any property as it varies over time by using the Wiggler. Depending on the property and the...
I don't know if it is what you are looking for but there is a list of every effect available in Chapter 8 of the AE User guide that came with the program.
Quite a useful chapter that for getting to grips with the basics of effects. When you've been through this you will probably benifit loads...

can you be a little more specific? Does image ready use layers if so are you only selecting one of the layers when importing?
are you compressing the image? what format is it when exported from imageready?
http://www.creativecow.net/articles/unguren_ben/shatter/
quite basic but may help.
what I think you'll need to do is apply this filter to each alpha-channeled image with each image on a layer taking up the whole timeline. you'll then go through and using the layers in and out handlesselect...
After effects will accept certain types of DV. what codec are you using to capture? I use a card called Canopus DVStorm which captures DV footage as .avi so dv can be natively .avi format.
It isn't true that ALL final renders from AE end up as .mov files. It depends on what settings you specify...
sure, be inspired by what you see - but the most rewarding work I have done has come from an initial inspiration developing into experimentation, which has often led to results that I couldn't have predicted but were better than I could have imagined.
Other times I'll have an idea of some...
I have had a simliar problem. one solution might be to place a large square with 0% alpha on each layer in Illustrator. This layer should be invisible and if you make it exactly the same size and position on each layer, and of course larger than any artwork, then when you import it into AE it...
export it as uncompressed with alpha... or aparently there is a quicktime codec with alpha.
You'll see the options for Alpha when you are adjusting your outpu options.
For more info read the manual

What version of AE are you using? you say you've got the footage into AE but it is the output you are struggling with? What form of avid is it?
So far I have had limited success getting SWFS into AE but I am running the basic version of 5. Did it very well though by outputting my swf from...
on the matirix thing... my advice would be Don't!!!! been a bit done to death, really! especially as it is now a standard plug in on progs like Combustion...
try exporting as .avi or .mov using a DV codec and then bring it into Prem. 30 mins is quite a big file but Prem should be ok with it if your computer/operating system is...
What are your specs?
please don't post of topic threads... your post has been read elsewhere under your 3dfog question. If someone has any advice they will, or should, use that thread.
Thanks
LOL!!!!!!
I get ya! soooooo...... To solve this I need a little info:
What is the frame size of the footage you are bringing into AE?
What is the frame rate?
what type of AVI is it? (Quicktime, windows media, blah, blah)
Basically find out as much info as you can about the file you are...
In respons to your first question, AE can output pretty much any type of output. I'm ont sure what you mean by 1:1 though... do you mean that you want it to output the same file size that you put in? I think you need to understand a little about the way AE works to see why you are getting these...
I have a PAL monitor! just do all my stuff in AE and never really wanted to see it on a TV screen until it is finished and embedded within a project.
Personal choice I guess!
