    Disk Staging - empty files

Thanks for the reply Johnny. What had actually happened is that I was testing our new media server months ago and had created the dev_null file for testing speed, and forgot to remove the offending file: /usr/openv/netbackup/bpdm_dev_null To quote the doc: bptm will not write its images to...

Huebs, I have Sun's Q-logics 2200 HBA's. I have already tried the "cfgadm -al -o show_FCP_dev", but the response was very slow and blank - nothing besides the column hadings. However, I will try again in the morning (when I get back to the office.)

How to get WWN for STK9940 drives on Solaris

Thanks for the quick input all. I tried the luxadm probe - nothing found. The storage chappies here say the SAN switches say nothing... unless they don't know the command to see what wwn's are on which port - which I don't currently know. The GUI doesn't show this info. We're using 2 types of...

How to get WWN for STK9940 drives on Solaris

Hi, I have a Timberwolf with numerous 9940A and 9940B drives. They change/are replaced according to failures, and I am now trying to get the WWN from STK9940 drives in a Timberwolf silo. I have no direct access to the drives as they are over 30 miles away. Is there a way to interrogate the...

    Unable to erase ANSI media

Justin, The current tape drive is a SDLT, however I cannot confirm what drive the media was written to by. As you said, it appears to be a hardware issue rather than a software issue. I was hoping someone may have another solution besides the big old magnet...

    Unable to erase ANSI media

SQLBill - Thanks for the reminder, however the Write Protect tab is not enabled - first thing one normally checks :) I did find the Veritas doco that mentions unable to overwrite media previously written by other drives. The strange thing is that I am able to Inventory the media (confirming...

    Unable to erase ANSI media

I have a win2K server running Backupexec 8.6 with a tape library attached and have been trying to recycle old media. The media is reported as "ANSI VOL1: UOxxxx (BP)" after doing an inventory on it. The UOxxxx is a valid ID, however does not tie in with it's barcode label. When I try...
