what acct are your backup exec services using? that acct, not the one you logon with, is what will be used to try and attach to your remote systems. if it does not have access to those machines your backups will fail. try logging on to the backup exec server using the same acct as the services...
were your backup exec services running using the administrator acct that you just changed the password on?
if so, you might want to change the password on the backup exec services to match your new password.
Take a look at these 2 technotes. They show this error on 7.3 but it should also apply to 8.0

No, BE is just try to protect the data on your tapes from being overwritten by your new jobs. it is doing this because you told it to through your choices on the overwrite protection settings for your media.
Spend some time on the MEDIA tab in Backup Exec. Right click on the item called Media...
run an inventory and then erase. dds drives do not support the format command. you should look for "quick" erase in Backup Exec
Go to the DEVICES tab and right click on your tape drive. Inventory and then erase.
is it local or remote to the tape drive? if you are backing up a remote system across the wire, have you loaded the Agent Accelerator on the remote server?
what are you trying to do? run a backup or restore?
try inventoring the tape first. if its a backup run an erase on the tape first.
if its asking for overwritable media then you need drag the tape into the "scratch" media set on the MEDIA tab
if its a restore run an inventory and...
try ntbackup first. does it work with the drive?
which driver are you using? seagate, nt, or quantum?
id also check the status of the dlt drive via the lights on the front. are the "operate handle"?? lights on? meaning that the drive has dismounted the tape and is waiting for an...
You can only abort an active job. right clicking on it and choosing abort.
You can put a hold on scheduled jobs by right clicking on it and choosing HOLD.
You can edit a job if you have saved it by going to the Job DEfinitions tab and going into the properties of it.
Open File Option would work for you. It requires the AA be present for remote backups but you mentioned you already made it through that hoop :)
OFO creates a virtual snapshot of the entire volume that you are backing up and allows u to backup the open files while the changes are occuring to...
DLT tape drive? or TRAVAN? Those tape drives dont support software commands to eject media. Try turning off the eject media after backup option in the job properties.
Exchange permissions. You have to go into Exchange Admin and see what rights the account BE is using has on the mailboxes. You need to grant it admin rights on the mailbox in Exchange. NOT NT.
So for e.g. if your BE services are running as "BackupAdmin1" you have to go into the...
Try running BE setup again. Enter your serial# but do not check the install BE chck box. Dont select anything. BE should just install the serial number. I think thats right. 6.x was a long long time ago.
itll get easier. work out the config kinks and it should run ok. Your backups of just the IS\DS without selecting the mailboxes probably work right? Seen this before.
If its just all of the mailboxes that bomb out with that error then youve got a rights issue. BE is trying to hit those mailboxes...
Looks like BE did not have access to backup those mailboxes. BE lists them as "directories" in the log but its actually failing on just the mailboxes. Go into the Exchange Admin and see what permissions are set on those mailboxes listed in the log. The NT account that BE is using needs...
Just click on the BACKUP button in BE. Itll bring up a new Job window that you can use to configure a job. At the bottom is a SCHEDULE button thatll allow you to set when you want the thing to run. IF you have VER 8 it has a virtual calendar to setup your schedules. Lot easier. Its the Advanced...
What account did you specify for BE to use when you installed it? Check the account. The password probably changed or the account is disabled. It is just telling you that the account the BE service is using could not login to the machine.
After you change tapes you need to run an Inventory of the device so BE knows about the media change. I would also run an ERASE on the new media as well. Itll then be considered "Scratch" media by BE and will show up in blue in the MEDIA tab. BE looks for SCRATCH tapes first to write...
Did you start with the manual and readme? You can download the docs from Veritas and the readme for BE is always the best place to start. ITS BIG. the veritas knowledge base also has alot of BE technotes. support.veritas.com
