Thanks for this advice. NTDSutil.exe doesn't work in this situation. The PDC no longer physically exists, it only exists in DNS, so NTDSutil.exe cannot find the role to seize it. Another DC cannot be added to the domain either for the same reason - DCPromo says it cannot contact a PDC for that...

Hi Matt, Term Svcs gives each user their own (hidden) session, so even if you're in the server room it's not obvious that someone's remote-admin'd into your server. I use VNC or pcanywhere to admin servers so I can see at a glance what's happening. Other than that it's as good as any other...
