i can see linux box but cannot browse using win box

hi!

i need help, i setup samba as file sharing for win and linux box

i can browse win box using smbclient.
but when iam browsing using explorer i can only see linux computer but cannot access, im getting this error

\\linuxcomputer is not accessible

the computer or sharename cannot be found

any helps or inputs will appreciate, thanks in advance

Windows sends encrypted passwords unless you are using Win95. Lookup on google about a registry setting for setting passwords for clear text.

That may help you out.

I had this problem a couple of times.

I needed to join the linux box to the domain

(smbpasswd -j <domain name> -r <domain controller> -U <name of domain admin for the domain>

, then I used webmin to create shares on the linux boxes

Might be a mute point for you, but I tried all of the above only to find out my problem was the personal firewall on the win98 box was preventing me from accessing the linux box.

Also setting the smbpasswd from linux box command line.

Basic suggestions I know, but easy to miss...
