    Read access with viewing folders

I know I just have a case of the Mondays (name the movie) but how do you allow someone read access to a folder without letting them actually see the directory or folder contents. I have a software folder for remote installs of software, but I dont want people just downloading to thier hearts...

    Find out password age?

Do an export (File-->Export) Export all the users in your AD, then look under the PwLastChg field. This is how I do it (for reports and such) Jay Valente W2K MCP/MCSA/MCSE snakebyte@mail.com

Remote Removal of Software from Win2k Machines

Outside of a thirdware utility (Dameware, SMS, Netmeeting remote desktop)) I don't think it's possible. If it was XP I'd say remote desktop, but that's not an option. Jay Valente W2K MCP/MCSA/MCSE snakebyte@mail.com

    ping -a

I Believe it uses the same resolution path it would use to resolve an IP address (First your DNS, then any forwarders, then resolution through root... etc.) Not postive, but think so. Jay Valente W2K MCP/MCSA/MCSE snakebyte@mail.com

    Find out password age?

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure how to pull date last changed for a pwd, but you can use a piece of software called Dameware Utilites which can tell you when the pasword last changed. They have a 30-day trial available, and if you like the functionality, I'd suggest buying it (It's great...

    DHCP nightmare

Have you tried setting the lease expiration really low to force the workstations to grab a new IP. Are the clients all the same OS type (ie win98, winME, win2K). Sometimes removing the computer from the domain and readding it also helps. just my 2cents worth

How to migarate users & groups to windos 2k from NT

This is how I moved all accounts off of an WinNTSBS 4.0 to Win2k DC. It required a rebuild on my domain controller, but was relatively fast, painless, and all data was moved and I didn't have to change the domain name. We will call the WinNT SBS 4.0 OLDDC and the Win2KDC NEWDC Put WintNT on...

    Internet Connection on W2K server

Also what are your DNS's. I didn't notice if you were using Win98, ME, XP, or 2K/NT. When you run a "ipconfig /all" are your DNS's jiving with other computers. If not, that is you issue

    ICA Client Problem

I had a similar problem (mouse wasn't disappearing) and tracked it down to a global setting change in the video resolution. Have you tried uninstalling, then re-installing the Citrix client. How about rolling back to an older version of the client(has fixed some probs for me) or downloading and...

users in disconnected state cant reconnect

Also, you can set it enterprise wide by using the toolbar option in Citrix (The Citrix Connection Configuration), or the Start Menu option under Start->Programs->Metaframe Tools. Doubleclick on the option you want (for me ICA-TCP and or RDP-TCP) and choose the advanced option. They will allow...

    JunkMail Export

Over the last month's I've compiled quite a large list of JunkMail addresses via the Junkmail option in Outlook 2000. I'd like to somehow pull export that list so it can be saved and archived/added to, and maybe integrated into Exchange 5. Anyone know where this list is stored, and how I can...

Is there a way to send alerts for router changes

Yes, in config enter, "logging x.x.x.x" where x.x.x.x is the ip of your workstation or syslog server. Then download KIWI syslog server and set it up to notify you of changes to your router. I have is set up on a remote PC that runs syslog 24/7 to monitor the router.
