Where does ping -a look to resolve the hostname? I am getting different results from ping -a than I am from nslookup.

Thanks,

John

Well with an nslookup, you can always set where you want to look for the answer, correct?

I think a ping -a uses the reverse lookup zone, but I could be wrong.

I Believe it uses the same resolution path it would use to resolve an IP address (First your DNS, then any forwarders, then resolution through root... etc.)
Not postive, but think so.
