Yes, Word (2003 BTW) is pretty good at remembering things. However, since I very rarely want to do anything other than just Find, I don’t know where it gets the idea I want to specify formatting.
No add-ins. The only non-stock items are toolbar buttons and menu items for PDFMaker 7.0.
This may...
Greetings,
Many times when I do a Find search, Word decides to look for those items that are underlined. I have to tell it No Formatting about half the time.
Is there any way to get Word to behave? It’s annoying.
Thanks!
Yup, the section break was removed. And I tried both Continue from previous section (just for Ss & Gs) and Start at... with a 1. It won’t let me Start at 0, one of my wackier ideas.
Also, Show number on first page, checked or unchecked, leaves a page number (2) on the [now] first page.
And...
No, that’s not it, although I didn’t check until you mentioned it. (We don't normally do even/odd pages.)
I even tried using the Remove Hidden Data add-in in hopes that it would eliminate my “phantom page,” but that didn’t work either.
Also, we would normally use Different first page, but...
I’ve got a situation that has me totally stumped. I inherited a report that has a title page (first page of the document) that needs to be removed. There was a section break between the title page and the one following.
Title page removed. Now the resulting first page will not allow me to...
Is there a way of constructing a report so that it will print out two record sets per page?
I suspect it’s something simple, but I can’t seem to figure it out.
Thanks!
It might be my imagination, but that seemed to only make matters worse. Certainly not better. I even went two notches.
But thanks for the response.
I should mention that I don’t have a problem with Photoshop, if that makes any difference. I have a sneaky feeling it’s a glitch in the Word/XP...
There seems to be a problem with graphics in Word. Sometimes they show, but most often they do not. Occasionally clicking the item will make it appear. Once in a while, changing the zoom level will do the trick. But, when you need to see them, naturally they are invisible. (This doesn’t...
Explaining why it’s dumb AND providing an alternative needs to go hand in hand. Just having a reason for not doing something is most often insufficient.
Not all of us have the option of telling a Boss we don’t want to do something just because it’s stupid.
If you know other ways to do this...
Yes, and for the record, dcompto’s solution is the perfect one for my situation.
There are things that shouldn’t be done in Word. When I’m a Boss, I’ll have something to say about how things are run around here. Until then...
How’s this:
Insert a Text Form Field.
Right-click the field and select Properties.
Under Default Text: enter Addressee (or whatever else you like).
Click OK.
This is the “text prompt” I was referring to. Click the field and start typing.
I want a coupla these in the header. Or something like it.
There are complicated forms that were put together using the table method Gerry described (and with the drawbacks mentioned). At some point I’m going to have to update these monsters, so if there’s a better way to do it, it would make a lot of people very happy.
Kludge, indeed. IMO, there...
This specific application is a letter template where the Addressee and the Addressee’s Company are listed on the headers for pages 2+.
The autotext feature for the page numbering is already there and functions fine.
This is just a convenience feature. Currently there is text:
[Addressee]...
I’m trying to create a Word template that includes a text field in the header. When in the header the Forms toolbar is grayed out. I tried cheating by copying the field, but when I try to paste it in the header, Word tells me I can’t do it.
Surely there must be some way of getting around this...
OK. I tried that, but it leaves a shaded area of the text box, which does not happen on the previous form. And I know what won’t be acceptable.
It seems the previous author was able to accomplish this.
