There seems to be a problem with graphics in Word. Sometimes they show, but most often they do not. Occasionally clicking the item will make it appear. Once in a while, changing the zoom level will do the trick. But, when you need to see them, naturally they are invisible. (This doesn’t seem to happen with the XP Home Edition.)

The items in question are usually signatures in .tif or .jpg format, about 100 KB.

Is there some setting somewhere that can solve this problem? This happens on at least a couple of computers where I work. Mine is a Dell P4 @3.4 Ghz, 504 MB RAM, XP Pro Service Pack 2.

You might try setting your graphics hardware acceleration back

R-click desktop. Choose properties
Settings tab and then click Advanced
Troubleshoot tab
Under Hardware acceleration, move the slider one notch to the left.
Ok, ok...

It might be my imagination, but that seemed to only make matters worse. Certainly not better. I even went two notches.

But thanks for the response.

I should mention that I don’t have a problem with Photoshop, if that makes any difference. I have a sneaky feeling it’s a glitch in the Word/XP Pro relationship.

It is more likely a glitch in the Word/printer driver relationship. Has there been any change in this relationship? Either a change to version of Word, or a new printer, or a new network connection?

All display in Word comes from the printer driver. Perhaps check for any updates for that.

Sounds to me like you have a PC using the Intel GMA900 or GMA950 graphics chipset? There is a problem with displaying graphics overlays with the earlier drivers. The latest driver should resolve the problem. Download it from Intel.com.

tf1, I’ve got a different chipset, but updating the driver seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

You're welcome.
