PROBLEM WITH MS PATCHES AND VS8.0i

Ah, yes. That is why we refuse to deploy 8.0i. No option during the install to disable that extra crap. I don't want things grabbing onto the IP stack, etc just because of issues like these. If you are running Active Directory, you could create a Group Policy which could change that key...

ePolicy Orchestrator Agent Update and VirusScan 4.5.1

Thank you. I thought I had read that somewhere, but couldn't find it. I just remember when we initially setup ePO 3.0, we had separate autoupdate tasks for Netshield 4.5, and VirusScan 4.5.1, so I wasn't positive that the ePO Agent Update would actually update 4.5.1 properly. It should pick...

ePolicy Orchestrator Agent Update and VirusScan 4.5.1

On the ePO Server 3.5, does the ePolicy Orchestrator Agent Update task update VirusScan 4.5.1, where it automatically picks the correct repository, or do I have to create manual 4.5.1 AutoUpdate tasks for it? We still have some clients who are on 4.5.1 (which will be gone once we finish our...

ePO 3.0.1 Problems - Tasks not updating on Clients?

I recently setup ePO 3.0.1 in my little test lab so that I can test upgrading it to 3.5 before I do it on my production network. I'm having problems getting 3.0.1 to work properly to begin with, though. The clients do not seem to get the changes in the Tasks. I have VirusScan 4.5.1 loaded on...

Connecting to an external VPN from behind FW-1

No problem. I don't know why it doesn't work properly. It used to work fine with version 4.1, but with NG you have to do all that extra crap to get it to work.

    McAfee 8.0 Vs Ad-Aware = No contest

I've used regmon and filemon from http://www.sysinternals.com/ to help find what files or registry entries old, poorly written applications are trying to write to. Usually you just need to give access to write to a specific registry key, or a folder and the application will then work fine...

    Checkpoint Encryption Failure

Its usually better to not do any NAT over a site to site VPN.

Connecting to an external VPN from behind FW-1

I believe Checkpoint has a soltion for this in their knowledgebase. I had the same problem about 6 months ago. It worked fine with 4.1, but when we upgraded to NG it stopped working. I believe the solution was that you had to setup static nat and a static IP address for the computer that you...

    McAfee 8.0 Vs Ad-Aware = No contest

If your users aren't local administrators on their PCs, 99% of the spyware is eliminated because they don't have permission to install that crap. Also make sure that you have all of the Windows security patches installed. None of the spyware utilities are any good, I usually have to use about...

Cannot Browse workgroup from different subnet

Still don't understand your setup. Is this firewall just between 2 subnets, and not on the Internet? Not using a VPN? Are you using workgroups, or are you on a domain? (If on a domain - NT4 or Windows 2000?) "browsing" across subnets does not work. "Browsing" uses...

Win2k client cannot find domain controller name after domain upgrade

We had a very similar problem. Try this to force Kerberos to use TCP instead of UDP. This solved our Netscreen problems. You may have to do it on the Domain Controllers as well as the clients, but I'm not positive. I did it on both myself. Start Registry Editor. Locate and then click the...

    Secure Client Licence

If you already own Checkpoint - the SecuRemote option is FREE. You just need to apply for it. You can do it through your reseller, or on their website in the UserCenter.

SecureClient blocking all inbound...despite policy allowing all.

Is your rule allowing the pcanywhere ports BEFORE any rules that would be blocking that port? Checkpoint takes the rules in order, and if you have one that blocks anything incoming, and then one allowing something after, it won't work.

    secureclient and xp conflicts

It is probably a WINS issue. Try manually inputting the WINS server on the dial-up adapter, or network adapter (whichever the user is using to VPN), and I bet it will map the drive.

Checkpoint VPN to Sonicwall kerberos failure

Try this - it worked for me using Checkpoint and a Netscreen firewall. It is an issue with Kerberos over UDP. You can force it to use TCP with the following registry edit: ocate the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa...
