Thanks for your reply bcastner. I took your advice and used forceASPI to install the 4.60 ASPI layer files (all four). Still no luck. I then followed the advice found on the radified forum and removed the WOWPOST.exe and WINASPI.dll files as they are reportedly not needed by WinXP. Still no...
I was attempting to use a SCSI scanner that does not have WIN XP drivers available. I found a forum that suggested an ASPI upgrade. I downloaded and ran a .bat file that was meant to upgrade the ASPI files in Windows/System and System32 folders (something to do with files like wowpost.exe...
Renard64,
Did you ever get your freeze up problem resolved? Mine is very strange. On some days, my box freezes 5 or more times a night. On the very next day, it may not freeze at all. Yesterday I put it thru the paces with a very graphically intense game (which almost never causes a freeze)...
Renard 64,
I have the exact same problem in Win98SE. Have you tested your RAM (I did and it was fine)? A bad module can cause freezes. Download a free eval copy of Data Advisor software from Ontrack.com. See how your RAM checks out. I first used Norton Systemworks on mine and it repoted failure...
Well, upon the advice of mgkmark, I downloaded Data Advisor software and tested my 512 of RAM. It passed. Interestingly, I then tested each 256 chip individually with Norton Systemworks and it Failed! I then took those out and tested a spare 128 chip I had. It passed Norton (as it did Data...
Idlestone (if you are still out there),
Did you ever get your freezing problems fixed? I have the exact same problem and it is driving me mad!
any help would be appreciated.
Neil
Well, the weird horizontal lines on my icons are gone now that I am using a differnt Nvidia driver (23.12b) on my Geforce 3 Ti 200. I still have the problem on my 'start' button, but, I can live with that. My problem now is that my computer hangs all the damn time!
I have taken care of the...
Well, I think I have this problem licked (for now). I now have a GeForce 3 Ti 200 (I upgraded the Geforce 2 Mx). At first, I had the exact same problem. So, I tried different detonator drivers and low and behold, the 23.12 driver made the problem go away. Only problem is, my computer locks up...
It's a Visiontek GeForce 3 Ti 200 (64meg) with 23.12b driver. The MoBo is a VIA VT8363 with Apollo KT133 chipset.
A system test I ran sez, "AGP bus unused or AGP card not fully AGP compatible" and "current AGP data rate not optimal"
???
Neil
My bios setting is 4X AGP but my system config benchmark sez "AGP bus unused or AGP card not fully AGP compatible. Current AGP data rate not optimal"
So, like I said, even though BIOS AGP setting is 4x, I don't think I am getting 4X AGP. What's wrong?
Help?
Neil
I do have a card fan mounted just below the graphics card.
I never had this problem before my 20 Gig hard drive crashed and I had to install a new (40Gig) one.
While I was at it, I updated the video driver on my geforce2 mx 32meg(I think I was using a 6.something before...yeah, really old). I...
Funny thing is, the problem is not present at boot up. It only begins about 10 min. after boot up and after opening and closing several windows. It does occur at different screen resolution settings. I am not certain it happens in safe mode.
could it be a driver issue?
I have these colored, parallel, horizontal lines obscuring my start button, and pretty much any control button in any window (for example on the minimize , maximize, and close window buttons, and on the upper and lower arrows on the left side scroll bar in a window or over where the radio...
We had this problem this morning. I ran VREPAIR and it failed as it couldn't load OS2.NAM with the same error message. I ran INSTALL.NLM, and noticed that the mirrored partitions were out of sync. I removed the mirrored pair, ran VREPAIR again and this time it found problems with 2 seperate...
