I would go with IPKONFIG on the routers, with switches, im finding more and more the sway to nortel 450T, 470T and passport 8600's over the Catalyst series..
Although it all depends on the job :)

Ello :)
The cable from cisco would be expensive, what your after is a DB60 back-to-back cable..
Nip across to ebay and search for back to back or cisco and you will find some there.
Thanks

Hi
Leased line would always be better, as the line is entirely yours without being switched through a providers network(which also carries other peoples traffic)
Leased line is usually a lot more expensive though.
It would all depend on whether or not you required it(Eg is it for any time...
Hi Guys
Trying to troubleshoot a problem I have..
Have three routers each hooked up to a frame-relay switch.
All the LMI status are clean, all the interfaces are up and active.
On the switch the frame relay map has the correct settings and on each dte it also has the correct mapping for...
Hi,
Ive set up a VPN using IKE between two sites and it works most of the time..then sometimes it just stops.. i examine the packets and I see the IKE leave but never get to the other side, and vica versa, and then sometimes they do but they have a bigger packet size than normal.. but are not...
Like people have said subinterfaces are the way to go..
Seeing as you dont have this, then the other suggestion of using a sniffer is the best..
Use something like sniffer pro and look at top talkers... that should give you some usefull information.
Are you using any form of adaptive-shaping...
Hi,
When you connect via your VPN(dependant on how your company uses it), the majority route all traffic from your interface via the vpn. This is for security as much as anything else.
So all your traffic is being directed to the gateway at work, for all intents and purposes then you are on...
MIBS are a way of gaining management info/stats from switches(as long as they support them, hence why we would need to know the make/model)
You can then have a third party product interrogate the switch using these MIBS to gain info like port usuage, traffic flow, error rates etc...
Do you...
We need some more info.
On your DSL router(already mentioned) find out if a static address is given.
How have you got the NAT set up on the router.
Cheers

Yes,
If you have another internet connection then you can use that to browse the internet whilst on the vpn..
You are correct that there is probably a mechanism in place to stop you browsing over the same connection as the VPN, you would have to check to see if www, port 80,443 etc are all...
If they are not all made by the same manafacturer then the only thing you can use really is some SNMP stuff(the earlier response said hp-openview which is one but is expensive)..
There are free ones like MRTG on the net but you will need to get the MIBS from the respective switch sites.
What...
There is a problem straight away if you say that the winxp machine can not ping itself.. so other protocols are not going to help.
Trying going to a command prompt and ping 127.0.0.1 and see if it gets a reply.. In xp you havent got the inbuilt firewall set up to maximum or anything have you...
Hi,
Would need to see the config really to answer. You say no access lists or anything?
What are you classing as interesting traffic to bring the line up? also do you have the routes back on the other side?
Quick way is to show the config.
Cheers

Hi Guys,
Is it correct that the total amount of bandwidth for an ISDN BRI is 192kbps?
I always thought it was 2b+d=144, but have found info stating that itu-t has another 48k for sync+framing..
Is this correct?
Cheers
Terry
