check is whether master drive you're using is NTFS formatted or not, because if the master drive is in FAT32 then you might not be able to use the NTFS formatted slave.

I've tried using a working win2000 hard drive as a master and the faulty one as the slave. Te slave shows up in the intial startup but in windows 2000, that hard drive does not show up at all.
since you have a command prompt, what you can do to start all over again is to either type "format c:" or you can use a program such as TDCLEAR that will completely write zeroes to the hard disk. Also, if you look at the manual that came with the mobo, or contacting its manufacturer...
One thing I noticed is that you plugged your monitor to another computer and it worked fine, but try connecting your computer to another monitor and see what happens. Just to see if anything else happens. You never know.
