We have Arcserve 16.0R1 with a Superloader tape library. Is there a reliable way to test if a tape is bad, before running a backup?
(We are planning to replace Arcserve since it's an old version. That won't happen for quite a while though.)
I did not know that. I happened to have discovered that today when I moved an employee to a new cubical, where she had an MLX and the port in the new cube had a line to a TDL. I was testing all the ports with a 4412D+. What I'll do is test the MLX with a spare MLX phone. If that gives me a...
We have a 408 MLX and four 024 TDL's. I was suspicious that they weren't programmed (or not programmed correctly). The only experience I have with this phone system is what I learned over this year, so I honestly couldn't tell. I have a "print out" of the settings for one of the lines, which...
Hello,
I have about 15 ports or so on our phone system that give me no power or dial tone when I connect a phone to them. Can someone confirm for me whether that indicates that the ports are dead, or just "inactive" in the phone system somehow?
I'm sorry for not coming back to this sooner. I concluded after further troubleshooting that the problem is with the phone in the conference room. I have a wireless handset that the maintenance guys use, and when I plugged it into the same port, it worked just fine.
No luck with either the central programming settings, nor the busy/reset/restore.
I did fix it, sort of. I noticed that there were cables attached to ports 9, 10, 11, and 12. However, port 10 wasn't being used by any documented device. (9, 11, and 12 go to other conference rooms.) I was using...
I followed the instructions that TouchToneTomy posted, and I'm still getting the busy signal. I'm willing to try the reset/restore. I figured out how to get in the maintenance menu, so is it just a matter of selecting the slot, then punching "Busy-Out", "Reset", and "Restore"? Or is there more...
Here's another clue that I realized today, as I was playing around with an open port. After dialing 9, you still hear a dial tone as if the call did make it out to the network. I got a message when I dialed a wrong number. That makes me think it's going out the wrong way (your suggestion is...
Attached is the file for the known good extension. This is also on the 016 T/Rhttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=a893c623-8320-4339-b203-865b82fda2e2&file=EXT553_CONFIG.TXT
Hello,
That is quite possibly the nicest component of WinSPM. Thank you for alerting me to the File Compare feature.
Unfortunately, the only differences in the files are the Extension and the SS/PP numbers. I attached the config file for the extension that can't make outbound calls, in case...
This phone is connected to our 016 T/R module. We have four other phones going to the same module, and you can make internal/outbound/inbound calls just fine. The one I'm having an issue with I recently set up. I confirmed that, in WinSPM, the line has the same settings as the other lines. I...
Hello,
We have a Merlin Magix 3.0 phone system. We need to block incoming and outgoing calls for certain extensions. Meaning, they can only call internal extensions, and they can only receive internal calls. I figured out how to block an external call by setting the ARS for an extension to 1...
It worked like a charm! I happened to discover that there are actually three places I have to tone out, for future reference. There is yet another set of punchdown blocks in the janitor closet which go between the phone system and other locations in the plant. I was aware that the second...
I should probably expand on the situation a bit. The punch down block I'm working at is in a closet about 100" away from where the phone system is physically located. It looks like the previous IT/Maintenance ran cables from some punchdowns at the phone system to this particular block. I don't...
Hello,
We have an ancient Avaya phone system, which I am certain is a Merlin Magix. I need to move a phone line for a user to a different jack in the wall. The port I want to use I traced back to the punch down block (the cable going from the "new" wall jack to the block is not hot). However, I...
