Is MOM right for us?

A couple of things you need to know about MOM: *It won't monitor client workstations running XP. *It won't do much (out of the box) monitoring now MS software or devices unless you buy plugin devices or use SNMP. It is best served monitoring a data center running most if not all all MS apps.

    books about Microsoft Operations Manager

I have this book and would only recommend it if you haven't used the product much. It is mostly just an overview and regurgitation of the documentation. If you're looking for tips, tricks and insider information you'd better look elsewhere. And no, I haven't found a better book.

    Mailbox size limits--why?

    >>900MB is BAD? Yikes. Hmm so my users with 5GB should be shot then...<< Well...yes.... :-) Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a hardass. I fully realize that infrastructure is of secondary importance to running the business. I just see inherent laziness with an end user turning a mail...

    Mailbox size limits--why?

I have an Exchange 2003 SP2 server which has a 34GB IS. As I look at my mailboxes I see that some of them have grown to almost 1GB in size. Average size is currently 200MB. While I understand that big mailboxes are inefficient, can someone give me some ammunition to use when I approach the...

    Sharepoint Server Build--Specs?

Hello, I'm looking for suggestions on building a new Sharepoint site for our company. We're looking to use it to host our Intranet. We have about 250 users and expect at most about 200 sites/subsites. The only server config documents I've seen are related to huge sites serving thousands of...

Both are good suggestions--I'll try them both. Thank you both! John

App runs before script maps drive

Hello, I have a Access app running in a Citrix Published application. So far I've been having problems in that a drive which has the Access .MDB file is not mapped by the kix login script before the published app runs. My inelegant solution so far has been to insert a wait statement in the...

MFXPFR2 path forward for web access on port 443

Thanks, sounds great. But is CSG included in MFXPFR2? I've tried to find a product roadmap with answers to these questions but no luck so far. Getting product timelines and such from Citrix is difficult--it doesn't help when they change product names every release.

MFXPFR2 path forward for web access on port 443

Hello- I have MFXPFR2/W2KSP3 running on a Compaq dual 450/512MB RAM. We host several MS Access 2000 runtime apps on this server on the Internet. We currently allow users to connect using SecureICA (port 1494?) but would like to set it up so anyone can access these apps with a web browser on...

    Metaframe XP versions

That Brian Madden link was perfect, thanks! JC

    Metaframe XP versions

Can someone enlighten me to the differences between the versions of Metaframe XP? I have inherited a Metaframe XPs 1.0, FR2 server and when I check out the Citrix site all I find is information about XP Presentation Server. Are these products the same thing and if not, what is the difference...

    Toshiba M1 --BSoD

I have a new Toshiba M1 with W2KSP4. It likes to bluescreen on certain active content. It is easily reproducible by using Project 98, Outlook Web Access 2000 , etc. The driver listed is tridxp4.dll in the BSoD. Toshiba told me to reload the driver (no help) and if that didn't work move to...

E2K/Outlook 2K meeting requests go to old room delegate

Hmm. I removed the delegates and readded them and now everything is fine. No NDRs and the new delegates get the request.

E2K/Outlook 2K meeting requests go to old room delegate

Yes, it's a mailbox strictly for booking a conference room. Everybody new or old who tries to book the room gets the bounce back and the new delegate gets nothing back.

E2K/Outlook 2K meeting requests go to old room delegate

I'm not sure how. New users to the system are getting bounce backs when they try and schedule a request with the room. They get 2 NDRs and the new room delegate gets nothing. From what I can tell the problem lies with the room and we've removed the delegation for the 2 old users.

E2K/Outlook 2K meeting requests go to old room delegate

We have an E2000 server with Outlook 98/2000 clients. 2 users who were set up as conference room delegates have left the company. Even though we have changed the room delegates and removed the 2 old delegates we still get errors from people who schedule meetings that the recipients could not...

    W2K SP3-- install to DC

I found the answer to my own question. Technet recommends keeping DCs on the same SP level to avoid AD problems. "Service packs, hotfixes and security patch levels must be consistent on all Domain Controllers (DCs). Inconsistent update levels across DCs can lead to DC-to-DC...

    Account keeps locking problem

Read the KB articles below. Actively pursue an SP3 upgrade schedule. Activate AD domain account success/failure logging. Consider increasing the number of bad attempts before lockout. (especially after reading the KBs below) Create a troubleshooting tree to aid help desk. (check logs...

    W2K SP3-- install to DC

Yes, I was looking for SP3 DC installation order or requirements. I've read in the past it is best to install them sequentially and not a good idea to run DCs with different service packs for any extended length of time.

    Temporary Internet Files redirection

Maybe I don't understand the problem but it sounds like you're frequently using IE on a server. Bad idea. Why? But if you must I suggest changing the settings for the IE Temporary Files (location of files, sum total size of files) and use your group policies to prevent users from changing that...
