EZ Question Here. I remember reading somewhere that it was important to apply SP3 (or any SP for that matter) to W2K DCs rather quickly. In other words, apply them to DC servers 1,2,3,4 in sequence with no delays. In searching the MS website I've seen no such recommendation. Does anybody else rememeber such advice and if so can you point me to the source?

I don't get what you are saying. Could have 2 meanings. To apply all 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6.. SPs , and in ths case the answer is no, you need to apply just the latest one. Plus, SPs from now are using slipstream technology what makes that you will never be asked to apply the patch again (remember NT4).
Ifyou are saying about the order your update your DCs, then again there is no problem. Since SP is not making changes to AD schema, I don't see any problem. And I don't think that is doing such changes (I'm sure).
Update them when you have possibilility to.

Yes, I was looking for SP3 DC installation order or requirements. I've read in the past it is best to install them sequentially and not a good idea to run DCs with different service packs for any extended length of time.

I found the answer to my own question. Technet recommends keeping DCs on the same SP level to avoid AD problems.

"Service packs, hotfixes and security patch levels must be consistent on all Domain Controllers (DCs). Inconsistent update levels across DCs can lead to DC-to-DC synchronisation and replication related problems. It is extremely difficult to trap errors caused by DCs being out of sync, so it's critical that consistency is maintained."
