    Media labeled with Legato Networker

You can have Galaxy treat them as blanks and it will put them in the scratch pool... What version are you running?

    slow HP backups

Any ideas on why HP-UX backups would only run at 30-40K/sec while other backups on the network (NT/2000 and netware) are running in the 5M/sec range. Has anyone else run into this? HP_UX is version 10.20, networker server is Win2K running 6.2. HP client is 6.1.2 running to an ADIC Scalar 100...

SAN backup : SAN Storage Nodes VS "standard" Storage Node

SAN Storage Nodes back only themselves up across a SAN or locally, depending on what your requirements are. If you have a server with an internal drive, you can make that a regular storage node capable of backing up other clients. If, however you want that storage node to only back itself up...

    NDMP restores

Does anyone out there use NDMP? If so, what is the easiest way to restore data that's been backed up using NDMP? How are your restore times? Can you restore all the way down to the file level? or do you have to do the whole volume? FYI: Netapp NAS directly connected to ADIC Scalar100 with 2...

    Networker Client Upgrade Issues

The recommendation from Legato on this, and I've seen this work, is to populate the host files on both the client and the server, and not rely on DNS. Also, when you configure the client, use the Fully Qualified Domain Name and not the short name. The idea is to force NT to use the host file...

    Xp won't see the network

Have a problem with a laptop running XP Pro. It was at one point logging into the workgroup for the network and that seems not to be the case now. It doesn't see any of the other computers on the network when I go into my network places. It has an ip address from the dhcp server and can...

Is there a snapshot utility built into Solaris 8? If so, where is it? Thanks!

    autochange problem!!!

Yes, If you don't specify a drive when you label, it will use all of them. As for the GUI, it will use all of them as well, as long as you don't do a long label, that's the same as specifying a drive from the command line. :-)

    autochange problem!!!

At this point, I really don't have an explanation as to why it works from the command line and not the GUI. There are other things that work better from the command line as well, like labelling. If have more than one drive and label from the command line, it will use all available drives to...

DDS setup in Win2K San environment

If you are in a single data zone, you don't need to zone your switch, unless you need to do it for storage. Run jbconfig on both the server and the storage node. The first one you do jbconfig on will control the robot. When you run jbconfig, just follow the prompts, adding the host and...

    autochange problem!!!

Try running the import and export commands from the command line... nsrjb -w -S (slot number or numbers) to withdraw to the mailbox, and nsrjb -d -S (slots) to import tapes to the library. Then inventory those slots.

Backing up NetApp filers with Networker

My suggestion as well would be to use the NDMP module. There are some caveats to this however... you must either be running networker on a Solaris machine (version 6.x) or if you have an NT/2000 server, you have to be using Networker 6.2.

    Help Labeling Tapes

One way is to remember which slots you put the new tapes in and just label those slots. If you can't remember, then inventory your library. Any new tapes will have an "*" by them when you look at the volumes with the "nsrjb -v" command (meaning they are not in the media...

    Sunfire 3800 configuration

I'd like to know if anyone has any experience configuring dynamic domains in a Sunfire 3800? If so, how hard is it? Do you need to go to a class to learn how to do it? Or can you get thru it just by reading the install guide and following along? I have SUN experience, just not in this...

    backup to disk

This is overly simple, but have you checked to see whether the volume has been set to ready only? I have had this happen and changing the setting back to appendable solved the problem.

    Networker Operations

I actually work for a company that is a Legato PVAR and we are looking at rolling this tool out to some of our clients. I wanted to get a feel for how people in the field feel about it. Thanks for the input!
