Sending email through WinGate or MS Proxy server

I've seen this error in outlook, but if you use outlook express and specify the isp's pop server, and your own smtp server it should work. I'm going to check out some shareware programs like orinoco says, though:)

    Unexpected server rebooted, puzzled!

That's true, but the event log did show a 0a error, so it probably wasn't just a loss of power.

Loss of User rights when converting from FAT partition to NTFS

You might want to also look at the file level rights. In FAT, only share level rights apply.

    Microsoft Exchange

You could also create a custom recipient in exchange and have all mail sent to the exchange mailbox also delivered to the custom recipient.

    Unexpected server rebooted, puzzled!

You have your server set to aut reboot after the crash dump. Don't worry about that, you need to find out why it blue-screened in the first place. Start by searching microsoft.com for bsod 1a. Hope that helps.

    Shared CD-Rom on NT Server

They can see it, you just have to go to entire network and pick the Domain name then they will see it, but in order to actually use it, have them log in to the domain, or at least add them as users.

    MS Proxy and Exchange

I can tell you this much. If you plan on using pptp, don't even think about using proxy server. You can not be authenticated with pptp through a proxy. There is supposedly a work around by using RRAS, but so far my efforts to make it work have failed, and there just isn't any good information...

    Winsock problems

You know, you're right. I guess I havn't seen it on an NT workstation either. But, since I usually only work in an NT environment, this is really the only forum I've checked out. Like I said, it's not one particular problem, I've seen this problem in a lot of environments. Basically, any...

    NTFS Disk Copy

Here's a teqnique I,ve used several times successfully. Install your second hard drive, then mirror the drives. Shut down the server and then change your new hard drive to the same scsi id as the origional (so boot.ini will still work) then boot the computer and break the mirror!

    Winsock problems

This isn't about a particular problem, but about a trend I've been seeing. Is it just me, or have any of you noticed a lot of winsock problems lately. Any program or client or browser that overwrites the current winsock can throw a workstation into havok. I've seen client32 do it, the windows...

    RAS

Maybe I'm way off base here, but I've never been able to get RAS to work properly without WINS installed, or at least have the RAS server connected as a WINS client:)

    Multiple OS's on PC

You'll also not want to convert to NTFS if you want windows 9x to work. make sure all of your os's have an entry in boot.ini
