Is there any way to create a (image)bootable tape for 2.8 ? Ive havent been able to do it with Jumpstart. HP has a tool called ignite that does this. Im wondering if SUN has anything like this or if there is 3rd party software that will do this? Thanks dennis

I have my oracle startup in rc3.d. I have the shutdown in rc2.d. If I issue the command init 2 the kill script runs properly. If I issue init 3 the startup script brings oracle back up. My problem is that when I issue init 6 to reboot it does not shut down the database. The database does start...

Hi all My boss wants a centralized syslogging machine. He has chosen to use an NT box running some freeware called kiwi sysgen. I havent been able to find much doc on the software. What do I need to do in syslog.conf to direct messages to this new machine as well as display them and log them...

did your machine come installed? It may have been setup using an install server and never changed back. just a thought

I ve never done it that way ( sym link) If you have a backup you could wipe out /export/home recreate it as the size you need and restore. create an additional partion for /usr make the partition the appropriate size newfs the cXtXdXsX mount that partition as /usr.new copy /usr into /usr.new...

that partition is the entire disk if you mounted /dev/c0t0d0s2 it would be a partition the size of the entire disk
