Thanks for the reply but it is a no go I am afraid. Have tried that before (and again since this suggestion) I have removed the pci card, deleted the driver. Followed he instructions in the same way I dd when I first installed it (and got it working correctly) and it still will not see the...
Odd one this. Have setup wireless netowrking previously on my machine (Through a linksys WRT54G Broadband router), then added a Linksys PCI adaptor to another machine in the house (WMP54G) and successfully got the other machine on the net. However since installing SP2 the network adaptor in...
Wish it was that simple, no it was at the start after XP install completed and I decided to set up user accounts. All the games were installed, those that did ask, I requested install for all users
Tried the file sharing option and still a few games etc (although installed and working on my account) act as thought they have never been installed when on other acounts, unless I make other accounts administrators. Is there anyway I can go back and change my answer when I set up my account to...
This may be difficult to explain but here goes.
Got Xp pro all set up with everything as I wanted, then decided to set up a couple of user accounts. (This is just the one machine) During some part of putting a password on to my user account (with administrator status) and adding the other...
Eventually found the problem to be the standard monitor driver installed by windows. When I deleted the driver and restarted the machine I could increase the resolution to 800x600. I later found and installed the correct driver for the monitor and it worked fine.
Hope this helps someone...
I am adding software etc for a friend's computer. It is a packard bell (who do not have the best web site in the world for suppport for older machines) The graphics is intergrated and according to the motherboard info, it is a voodoo3-2000 8mb graphics card.
The problem I am having is it will...
Friend asked me to help with the format of his computer. At this time I know nothing about the computer itself, other than it has a 20GB HDD. When I first looked at it (using FDisk) it said that most of it was NTFS and 195meg was FAT 32. Using Fdisk I deleted both partitions and created 1...
Sorry for the late reply. To any that read this, I contacted Anne and she has recovered this unsing Excel XP, as she stated. Thanks Anne, real help there.
I used Fdisk (using the win98 setup disk). Created 4 partitions (although I had a 40 GB HDD) I put win 98 on drive D, then I put XP on drive C. XP will pick up any other OP system on other partitions and create a multi boot for you. Must remember to put the older OP systems on first and XP on...
The computer is from ARIA, the motherboard is - Socket A
MBD-ACP-7KMM1 and I am trying to put a geforce2 mx 32mb AGP card in it but the computer (that should auto recognise it) does not. There is no feature in the bios to disable the oboard video.
Have E mailed ARIA, just waiting for a response...
Thanks for that, had found the CMOS reset but did not work. Removed battery for 30 mins (just to be sure) and all back to normal now. Thanks for your help. I just need to work out how to get the computer to use the AGP card now instead of the onboard one
Aria computer, onboard shared 32 meg S3 Savage graphics.

I tried to add an AGP card & could not get the system to reqognise it, I went in to the bios to see if there was anything in there that I could change. I went to the addvanced chipset features and enabled AGP...
Sorry I did not realise I had not mentioned the type of file. It is an excel file.
The read only box is not checked. Most of the other excel files that I transfered over still work okay.
This file I mentioned is the only one that will not open and gives me that error message. It is quite a big...
Before reformatting my computer, I saved all my files on to a CDR. Then copied them back on to my HDD when all was done. Most of the files I can still access from both the HDD and the CDR, but there is one file that gives me the following error message :
"file" cannot be accessed. The...
I have had the exact same problem. Sometime ago I had to reformat and reinstall everything on my HDD drive. Before I did this I back up all my personal XLS, Doc etc files to a CD. After I got the computer up & running I transferred all the files back on to my HDD. When I tried to open some of...
Thanks for the quick response, have checked out the MS web site and got more details. As I have not got Win98 on my system now, I could not use the download. However, following on from there I found this information and hopefully will solve my problem. Thanks again for your help...
Just bought a new 120GB HDD and want to partition & format it. According to my bios it sees it as 120GB but when I try to use FDisk to partition it, it only shows as 53GB. Anyone any ideas on this one?
Yes tried that and no good. Have tried to install "opera" another web browser, just the same problems. But Netscape was fine, everything worked okay. Annoying though!!!!
