XP user account file sharing small problem

This may be difficult to explain but here goes.

Got Xp pro all set up with everything as I wanted, then decided to set up a couple of user accounts. (This is just the one machine) During some part of putting a password on to my user account (with administrator status) and adding the other (restricted accounts) I was asked if I wanted to share my files, I said no. did not pay much attention as I have had a couple of accounts on my old machine, with no problems. Can't remember being asked that question before ... not that that means anything

Now when another user logs on to their "restricted" account they get a message box up with "kd" in the title box. the message is, CreateFile Error. If you click "OK" all continues okay with no problems. If I change their account to "administrator" status, this error does not come up.

What's happening? & how can I stop it without making all the restricted accounts administrators?

For some older programs to work correctly limited users may need less restrictive permissions to access particular files such as logs and configuration files etc. You may have to increase their permissions on a program by program basis (or file by file) in order that they may have access. This doesn't mean that you have to increase their user status to Administrator, just fine tune the permissions for access.

Tried the file sharing option and still a few games etc (although installed and working on my account) act as thought they have never been installed when on other acounts, unless I make other accounts administrators. Is there anyway I can go back and change my answer when I set up my account to yes, when asked if I want to share my files?
I have never had this problem before on other occasions when I have set up XP after a fresh install!
Using the sharing option described by linney, I shared all of the partitions, still the problems described though.

I believe you are "mis-remembering" the option. When installing the game or whatever it may have prompted: "Do you want to install for All Users?" or something similar. This directs what registry hive to write to, and what profile.

Uninstall the application and as Administrator re-install, as trying to sort this manually can be daunting.

Note too that because of the way many games are written they will require Administrator level access to be used, and there is nothing in this instance that can be done about the fact. Games that utilize DirectX features are almost gauranteed not to work for non-Administrator priviliged users.

Wish it was that simple, no it was at the start after XP install completed and I decided to set up user accounts. All the games were installed, those that did ask, I requested install for all users
