Hi,
I install/support 2008 SBS mainly, but have done work on 2008 std and 2008 R2 Std too.
I know for sure that SBS 2008 can control XP SP2 and SP3 firewalls, I can't be quite so sure about 2008 std and 2008 R2 std - but I would think so.
It depends on what control you want - as EVERY company...
I've seen a similar problem with a DL380 G4 (Dual Processor), running 2003 (Standard and Ent) - we didn't realise it was a hardware fault at first (reason for trying Enterprise), because even though the Blue Screen said 'Hardware Malfunction - contact vendor', HP refused it to be a hardware...
Hi Lee,
You need to plumb the drive in, then tell the server what to do with it through the HP's Array Configuration Utility (ACU).
Should exist in your Start Menu, under HP System Tools (or something like that). If not, you'll have to install it - download the relevant PSP (Prolaint Support...
Its an odd fault, I'll give you that!
The Yellow thing is because you're being given an 'Autoconfiguration' ipaddress - the '169.254.x.x' address.
And that is because it can't connect to a DHCP Server - but from the fact that entering a static ipaddress won't work, would lead me to believe your...
Assigning a static ip doesn't work?
You've got a NIC or Cable fault.
When you plumb the cable in, does the NIC recognise that a live data cable is attached? ie, does the red cross through the LAN Icon go away?
Do you have a spare PCI NIC you can put in, just to test things. Have you tried...
ShackDaddy is right (again!),
You're not getting an ipaddress from DHCP, and you should be...
So yes, check your Scope as he's described and make sure there are free addresses, but from the fact that you say you can plug your lappy in, and that works, I should think this is on DHCP, and...
ShackDaddy is spot on.
I have just done one last week.
Have you seen this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884453
It works a treat. Well, I say 'a treat' and hit about 1001 Replication Errors, due (I think) to an originally badly configured DNS on the server that was being replaced...
Does sound like a DNS/IP problem.
Can you post an 'ipconfig /all' of both and Server and the new Dell PC on here, and I'll take a look.
Can you ping any other PC's from the new one, that are pingable from other PC's or Server?
Thanks, Mark
