    pc timeouts

When using DHCP you need to enable portfast on the ports of the switch that are directly connection to the workstations otherwise it will timeout.

    Cisco Cat 1900 switch configuration

If it is an older 1900, the easiest way would be to take a laptop with a db9 to db9 connector cable to plug into the back of the laptop and into the back of the switch. If it is a newer 1900, use the supplied Cisco cable, plug the rj45 into the back of the switch and the db9 into the back of...

    Newbie Q- Config files

Our 6509s give the same information. However, right now our status light is amber and the system status is indicating faulty. Cisco recommends powering down the switch and reinserting the supervisor cards. I have not done this yet as down time is few and far between.

    C1924 lost management console

I just went through this same issue. You have to use the ORIGINAL db9 to db9 connector cable that was shipped with these switches. Unfortunately, Cisco does not manufacture these any longer. It is a gray cable, not black or blue where you plug the RJ45 into the DB9 adapter. The DB9s on both...

    2924xl switch problem

If spantree is enabled it can take up to 30 seconds to check for loops after a port is reconfigured. Make sure both ends are sent to 100/full duplex. Cisco does not recommend autonegotiate, but I have had no problems to this date.

    portfast

It is not recommended that you turn on portfast feeding a hub due to the possibility of a loop occurring if connected to two switch ports.

    wake on lan

I am not sure what series switches you are using. However, if you enable portfast on the ports with computers or servers directly connected it will most likely solve the problem. With portfast disabled, items like DHCP etc. time out during the listen, learning, blocking, forwarding state.

When the management menu appears select P for port configuration and then S for status of port and then D to disable the port.

Trunking what is the diff? ISL vs. n-ISL

In addition, the 4000 series switches do not support isl so that is why I used dot1q.

Trunking what is the diff? ISL vs. n-ISL

When I set up trunking on 6509s feeding 4000s I found the easiest way to do the following:- set trunk on - on both ends -dot1Q- and -nonegotiate-. I also cleared all of the vlans so no pruning of unused vlans was necessary. If the lines are going to be used for trunking setting them into the...

Cisco 2929 rebooting after LED Test!

Did you disconnect your network connection from this switch before you directly connected by the console port with your laptop or pc? If so, then I may have to research this further to try to help

Cisco 2929 rebooting after LED Test!

You more than likely have figured this out by now. I just had the same issue related to Code Red. Disable the web interface with: no ip http server

How to enable webmanagement @ Cisco 6509

Web management on all of our Cisco switches is enabled by default. However, we have disabled it on 2900 and 3000 series switches due to Code Red. I used the command set ip http server disable You should need to implement the opposite.
