2924xl switch problem

I have a 2924XL and I set one of the ports manually to speed 100 full duplex. This port was connected to a 2600 series router. Once this happen it basically stopped the entire network. I had to set the duplex to half and reboot both the switch and the router to bring the network back up. Has any one else had problems with this model of switch? It seems to me that it is really sensitive to any config change.

If spantree is enabled it can take up to 30 seconds to check for loops after a port is reconfigured. Make sure both ends are sent to 100/full duplex. Cisco does not recommend autonegotiate, but I have had no problems to this date.
