Dear All,
I've been trying to install Crystal Server 2008 onto a Vista laptop which already has Crystal Reports 2008 installed.
I get a message telling me that I can't install it due to it finding an existing Crystal Reports 2008 installation present.
I'm certain that (on a previous...
Hi Guys,
Just a quickie about using the BOCP-BOE designation...
I've just passed SABE401, which means I now have all three BOCP-BOE exams under my belt. Does this mean I can now put "BOCP-BOE" after my name, or is there something else I need to do?
Cheers
I just sat and passed SABE401 today, and can only strongly recommend learning as much of the manual as you can.
Like you, I took as much advice as I could from various people ... among them, other folks who had passed, and I can honestly say that I didn't get the same questions as they did...
Hi Guys,
I've recently passed SABE201, and am sitting SABE301 on Monday.
Now, I know better than to ask for examples of questions (I'm signed up to the confidentiality agreement also), but I wonder if anyone who has sat the SABE301 exam could tell me the format to expect for questions on...
Has anyone had experience of installing / running Crystal Reports or BOE on Apple Macs?
I have a client who has a mixture of PCs and Apples on his network and would like to use Crystal for his reporting.
My thoughts are that the Crystal would need to run on a Windows machine - as would the...
All,
One of my colleagues has just asked me an interesting question.
Using Access, he has linked data from an ODBC compliant database. To this, he has added an imported Excel spreadsheet.
When running a query, he has noticed that it's taking a very long time. Now, the linked tables only...
Skrandel, thanks for pointing me in the direction of Universes.
I remembered something about BusinessViews being a similar thing to Universes and that it came bundled with BOXIR2.
I tried it, and it's worked, so thanks again for pointing me that way.
I'm afraid not, skrandel. This is a straight Crystal Reports to Enterprise job.
However, if I wanted to use a Universe, could I do it with the software I currently have? I'm running BOXI r2 and CRCI r2.
I've written some reports using CRXIR2 pointing at SQL Server data. I've managed to set up the OLE link, got through the security and returned the data I want to see.
Now, I've saved the files to Enterprise and I can see the titles fine in InfoView. When I run them on demand, I get the...
Thanks MJRBIM, I've been wracking my brains trying to find where the blazes I'd seen it, and I must have dreamt it.
The only thing I can think of doing therefore is, like you say, write a couple of batch files which do something similar and schedule those.
Cheers for the help.
... I should have pointed out also that it would be very nice if - as part of the schedule - I could convert it to a PDF, fire it off as an email etc..
... ... basically, can I do the same with an external object as I can with a Crystal Report?
BOE XIR2
I have an Excel workbook which refreshes data from an external source on opening the file.
Can I schedule this to run in Enterprise and store an instance?
I can set up a new Excel object and browse for the file. I have also added a new key in the Excel registry so that the file...
That's a fair point...
As a default, the dsn gets set up as both a system AND a user dsn, BUT I almost always use the user dsn as it has no impact whatsoever when I extract data into my normal apps (Excel and Access).
I'll give it a go.
Once again, thanks for the inspiration.
As soon as I change the data source from a Transoft ODBC connection to a Microsoft Access ODBC one pointing to a data source on my local machine, it appears to be working fine.
Weird thing is though, the report refreshes OK when I run it manually with the old settings.
... more investigation...
Hi MJRBIM - thanks for taking the time to reply...
Using ActiveX viewer;
Only tried it in InfoView so far, but I will try it in the CMC and see how I go;
Very much a single BOE-XI server installed on Windows XP (I know, I know but I'm only using it to train myself a bit further lol)
I've just...
... I should have said that I only get this when I try to open a Crystal Report on demand.
The report in question uses ODBC on Informix data through a Transoft U/SQL connection, and refreshes no problem.
In BOE XIR2, I'm getting the following message:
The Page Server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator.
Although the CCM said that all servers had started, my CMC showed otherwise. I therefore stopped and restarted my servers from the CCM...
