    DSL speed and "tracert" command

Thanks for the replies. I managed to get some improvement by disconnecting a phone that was on the same jack as the modem and by replacing the cable from the modem to the jack with a better one. The modem now shows 2.88 although I still get 2.4/2.5 when I run different speed tests (not sure why...

    DSL speed and "tracert" command

Thanks for the reply. I figured out that the "general failure" was due to the settings in my anti virus software but I still get the "request timed out" on hops 11 to 30 after I changed them. I did all my speed tests on "speakeasy.net" and I had already checked the integrity of the network and...

    DSL speed and "tracert" command

I recently upgraded my DSL from 1.5 to 3Mbps with Verizon. At the IP address page I see the modem speed at 2.464 but when I run speed tests on my machines I usually get less than 2. I ran a tracrt to Verizon.com from my laptop which is running Vista and I got the following: Microsoft Windows...

No audio ouput device is installed!!

Just wanted to let you know the outcome. After spending hours with various Dell techs they determined that the operating system was corrupted and the best solution was to re-install everything. So I "took the plunge" and went thru the whole process of reinstalling the original XP then the Vista...

No audio ouput device is installed!!

I disabled the add hardware option but that didn't help. Belarc doesn't list anything although there is an "audio device on high definition audio bus" listed in Other Devices although there are no drivers listed. I will check out the links that you provided and continue my quest! Thanks.

Thanks for the answers. I will check out driveragent and windowssecrets. How do you stop the new hardware wizzard from starting automatically?

No audio ouput device is installed!!

When I tried to install it I got the message that it is not the correct one. I tried to install the driver in safe mode but I got the same error messages. At this point I'm not sure where to look anymore!!! If anyone has any other suggestions I would welcome them. Thanks for the help.

No audio ouput device is installed!!

Thanks. The version I downloaded earlier is from 10/24/08 which is supposed to be the latest and greatest but I'll try this one from 2007 and let you know how it works out.

No audio ouput device is installed!!

Thanks for the quick answers. I had already tried these. Windows tells me that the driver from the Intel web site is the wrong one. No matter what I try I keep getting the same object not present message. I tried a system restore back to a date in Sept. when I know everything was working but the...

No audio ouput device is installed!!

A few days ago I lost the audio on my Dell Inspiron E1505. After plowing thru various forums I learned that this could be due to Vista SP1 upgrade! I un-installed the SP1 upgrade and downloaded the Sigmatel STAC 92XX-C Major HD Audio driver from the Dell site but I keep getting the following...

    Office 2003 & Vista

Thanks for the replies. I logged on as administrator but I still get the messages and on the other hand I don't think I want to change the registry. I'll see if I can find another solution or I'll just live with it. Thanks,\.

    Office 2003 & Vista

I re-installed Office 2003 after upgrading from XP to Vista and each time I start one of the aps Outlook, Excel or Word I have to accept the End User License Agreement again. Not a big problem but annoying enough. Anyone run into the same problem or have a solution? Thanks
