    Is Backup Exec a lot better than ArcServe (6.61 or 2000)?

    I've had no experience with ArcServe, but I can tell you that Veritas'(BackupExec) tech support can be sketchy at best. Just look at the number of posts to this board!!! If the support were any good , this board may not even exist. What don't you like about ArcServe, besides dismal support?

    It's important to know how much data you'll be backing up. Tapes come in a wide variety of capacities, generally the higher the capacity of the tape, the more $$.     Is this a scheduled job? The jodb file may have been corrupted. You may want to try deleting and recreating the entire job.

    I've had the same problem occur during backups. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it has to do with the SCSI bus timing out...

    Backing up Netware

    You've got to make sure the user has root access, also, the set bindery context line of the autoexec.ncf on the netware box the context in which the backup user account lives must be listed first.
