Hello...

We have one Netware server left and I would like out Backup Exec 8.5 (on Windows 2000) to back it up.

I installed the netware agent on the Backup Exec machine and created a user matching the Backup Exec service account on the Netware server. I even made that user a supervisor. When I am creating the backup job, I can browse the Netware sever and select the folders I wish to back up.

However, the backup job fails, saying "Access Denied".

What more do I need to to? Does the Netware sever need a remote agent? Did I miss something else?

Thanks for the help!

You may have to have the multi-server version of BE.

There is no such thing as multi server version anymore... That ended with version 7 didn't it?

For remote NT machines you install the remote agent, which i have done on my remote NT machines... but what do you do for netware?

We had to get version 8.0 multi-server edition. It includes an agent for NT, 2000, NetWare, and Unix.

You've got to make sure the user has root access, also, the set bindery context line of the autoexec.ncf on the netware box the context in which the backup user account lives must be listed first.

I ran this method for a couple of years in one of my offices. TheRealEricF is right, set the user to root and make sure the bindary is set up too. I would see this same problem when I had just rebooted the box (2000). I would have to go into the tree under the restore or backup and just click on any folder on any volume of each of the two servers running. I seemed to force an authentacation with the servers. Are you also running the latest netware client for 2k?

Thanks people...

The problem was that the user I was using for it did not have root access
