Has anyone found what is causing this or a solution? One of our sites is also experiencing this intermittently. It happens during the backup and appears to be a specific Oracle agent. They have other Oracle agents on other servers with the same release that are fine. It only fails with some...
When you set up the backup, on the schedule tab, go to Use Rotation Scheme. Also look up GFS rotation in Arcserve help. This should get you going.
Good luck.
When you set up your backup, on the schedule tab go to Use Rotation Scheme and set up what you want there using GFS rotation. Also go into Options and set the job up to append. You cannot append weekly and incrementals to the same tape. You can append the incrementals for each day to one tape...
Check Arcserve help and I think you will find that you cannot append a full backup to a differential or incremental backup. You can only append a differential/incremental to a differential/incremental. A full will start a new tape.
I'm not sure what you mean but try this. Highlight the job and go into "modify". Go to the schedule tab. Check to see how it is scheduled and schedule it the way you want it.
Hope this helps.
Good morning,
On the schedule tab, put a check in the box Retry Missed Targets. This will schedule a makeup job with all the same attributes as the original job. But the only thing in the makeup job will be whatever doesn't backup on the first try. If you want to submit it on hold so you...
hmmmm......I just came to work and had a failed job. I have a makeup job waiting for me but I chose to back date it since the whole job failed, not just a portion of it. It is running now with Sunday's date and schedule even though I started it on Monday....I deleted the makeup job.
We are...
I'm not sure how you have your jobs set up but you can reschedule the job to run on the day it was suppose to run (back date it) and it will pick up the run you want.
Or
Under the schedule tab, if you "use rotation scheme", there is an option "retry missed targets". Also, under quick...
The full backup can clear the archive bit (you have to set that option). Differentials check for files that have the archive bit set (files that have changed since the last time the archive bit was cleared) and does not clear the archive bit after the backup. Incrementals will also check for...
We've addressed this with one other person in the forum. SP2 has this problem (of course CA won't acknowledge it....). Upgrade to SP3 and the problem will go away. The other person upgraded and his problem went away also. Be forwarned that if you don't upgrade, it will probably keep getting...
You can set the job up to append but I believe you must be using GFS rotation. Even at that, it is limited to incremental/differential backups. Full backups start new tapes. Check the Arcserve help for more detailed info.
Either your Arcserve person has no clue how to do a restore or he/she doesn't want to mess with it. There are options that prevent overwriting files. As already stated, you can put the files somewhere else also and not overwrite anything. Or you can overwrite files if you choose to. There...
Go to Quick Start, Server Admin, Admin, Configuration, tape engine tab. At the bottom, click on Show Tape Log on Job Status Manager. Click ok and get out of the screens. Now there will be a Tape Log tab on the Job Status screen. Or....there should be a file probably under C:\Program...
Go to Quick Start. Select Device. Expand (or double click) on your tape drive on the left hand side. You should be able to see the tapes. Highlight a tape. On the right side of the screen, you should have a Summary and a Detail tab. Click on the Detail tab. You can see the information...
