Thanks. I got that down. But that still doesn't keep someone it savy from installing ADMINPAK.MSI and seeing the entire AD layout.
What keeps kids from doing this at colleges that use AD.
Im sure they dont want the entire school AD scheme public. There has gotta be a way to hide that even if...
Hello all. I am searching for ways to deligate control to certain dept. heads. I want to have a snap in on their xp machines that shows them just their OU. Is this possible?
I installed ADMINPAK.MSI but that showed way too much. It shows the entire AD structure. That brings me to another...
Hello all! I am moving all of my XP machines from a workstation to a Win2k3 domain.
Once I have them join the domain, I log in as the user then log back off. I then log in as the domain admin. Then copy their profile using the profile copy thing in "user profiles" under the my computer...
Hello all!
I am currently trying to lock down 2 public access stations using XP & windows 2003 domain GPO.
I currently have it fool proof. With a read only start menu (redirect) that only shows 2 programs and the shutdown button. The desktop is blank and no right clicking can happen.
The only...
Does a system state backup pretty much backup everything I need for the domain controller?
How would that be restored? Reinstall windows clean? Then just restore the system state over that install?
What is the best way to backup a 2003 domain controller? Just the active directory part, dns and stuff?
Is the built in windows backup worth a look? Does it even backup system state?
Or should I look into something 3rd party?
Hello all! I have gotten a linksys vpn box to connect to a pix via a site to site vpn.
I have "keep-alives" checked on the linksys router, but the pix still says something about "keep-alives not configured" in the logs.
Anyways the vpn tunnel works fine, but I notice it has to "demand dial"...
Plus if the link goes down, they can't see the DNS server at our main office anyways. So they are down no matter what.
We don't have a dns server at the remote site.
Well at the remote site they have some static pcs and printers that are in the middle of the ip range.
The pix as far as I can see can't have ip reservations and so forth like win2k2 dhcp server does.
Plus I can centrally track and monitor DHCP. They don't use active directory.
Hello, is it possible to use the DHCP relay option on a pix to send requests to a server over a site to site vpn link?
I have a main site with a windows 2003 dhcp server. And 2 branch offices, all connected via site to site vpns.
I am using pix 506e's. But can't get the dhcp relay option...
Hello All! I have recently setup a new 2003 server.
I made a company.local domain and had it install dhcp and dns. I made the company.local domain be able to accept "secure and unsecure" updates.
I then made a workstation called work1. I did not join this pc to the domain. (Since I allow...

Ok I have tried everything and cannot get clients to dynamically update my Windows 2003 DNS.
I created a zone called test.com and allowed "secure and unsecure" dns updates to it.
I then tried several clients using it as their only DNS server. Then I ipconfig/registerdns. I get no errors. But...
