Best way to backup a 2003 domain controller?

What is the best way to backup a 2003 domain controller? Just the active directory part, dns and stuff?

Is the built in windows backup worth a look? Does it even backup system state?

Or should I look into something 3rd party?

The best (an really only) way is to do a system state backup.

Does a system state backup pretty much backup everything I need for the domain controller?

How would that be restored? Reinstall windows clean? Then just restore the system state over that install?
