Resolving a MAC address to an IP or system

I have a syslog full of errors generated by bootp. They say a certain MAC address has a bad address. It adds an error every few seconds. Is there a way to resolve where this MAC address is? It is a 52.41.53.x.x so I have found it's a RAS. I just don't know what's doing it. Every utility I look...

How to kill a job started by cron

Hey, great, that works. I just did "chmod +x killprog" and now I set up a script to run that command daily and it's done. Thanks a lot! http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?autostart=swanky

How to kill a job started by cron

I am writing a background process in DB/C which is new to me. I can't find anything in the language that will give me it's PID like in C. I need to start and stop this process with cron. I am having trouble finding a way to do this. I thought maybe I could set up another cron file and run it...

My dynamic streams are not being dynamic!

This is quite odd. I have 2 SCO 5.0.5b servers. About 3 months ago they both began to have the same problem. It was a Warning that I found the cure for on the SCO site. It called for updating the driver for the NIC card. I did that and the warnings went away. What's happening is that the...

    Uptime Changing on own!!!

Is it possible your machine is getting it's time from somewhere else? I may be out to lunch, but maybe your machine is updating it's clock somewhere off another server and thus you time and "uptime" are a bit wierd. http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?autostart=swanky

Pulling data from /dev/tty??? to file

I have call accounting data coming in on tty1a12. My call accounting software reads this just fine. But now I am writing new software that also needs to read this data. The call accounting software is in DB/C and is from a vendor. Mine is in C. Initially I was just going to do cat...

    reboot command

This is one of those things I used to know and have not used and forgot. I looked at the man pages for shutdown. shutdown -y -g:0 -i6 seems to be what I remember. When I look at the init man page it talks about an entry in inittab and so on. I never touched that before. Is the above correct...

How to use tar to extract one file from a tape?

You can download BackupEdge for a free trial and see what you think. I recently did. Your tar commands seem fine, but you might need to put your wildcards in quotes. Also, when extracting one file add a q to your command to make it quit once it finds it. like "tar xqv8 filename.&quot...

    Info on netstat -m

My boss is itching to know what all that stuff in netsta -m means. In particular, what are all those classes and what do the numbers associated with them relate to and what effects them. Can anyone recommend a book or URL to learn more?

Best way to install a modem

After a major crash and reinstall of SCO 5.0.5, I am now left with 2 modems that don't want to work. I have read through a lot of the articles here and it looks like the concensus is that modems are a pain. They used to work fine before. Can someone give me their tried and true way to get...

    scO PROBLEM

Did you guys have any luck? I am getting errors on both our ALR servers with the Pro 100b chipset cards. First a "Watchdog Reinit" and then "allocb" errors and finally a panic if we don't reboot in time. We increased the STREAMS parameter on one machine and that has fixed...

    amirdmon

On my system (one of them) the amird is the RAID card controler. We replaced the adacrd with the amird. I can't say if this is a universal naming convention. So, amirdmon would be monitoring the RAID array. But, we are using a 6 disk array at RAID 5. I am no expert on this, but maybe this will help.
