The best way to solve this problem (instead than adding a drive which would also work :)) is to go to a F:/, G:/, etc. prompt and type PURGE /ALL to free up "limbo blocks", which are deleted files that have only been "marked" for deletion and can still be SALVAGED.
The symptoms you describe sound like "watchdog" packets but the timing is off. Watchdogs are set in MONITOR/Communications, and usually are set for an hour or so. The first watchdog is set by the timer, then more are sent at specified times, if all get no response the connection is dropped...
Your browser problem is almost certainly a video driver problem/conflict. Go to the card's vendor and upgrade to newer video drivers. IE 4, and especially IE5, are both sensitive to video problems, more than any other program I have seen to date. 1 driver revision higher than you already have...
Printers, at least in Netware 4, use a CONNECTION but not a license, they do not count towards the 5 user (or higher) limit. A limitation of Netware 4 is that it is limited to 256 simultaneous connections, I don't know if 5 has the same limit.
