Jexster,
Yes you can. Video memory type & speed isn't regulated by the system RAM. You only need the appropriate slot (AGP or PCI) for the type of card. Slow CPU speed will affect how well the card uses the DDR tho'.
You're welcome & thanks for the thanks! ;^)

Thamantii,
I'm not familiar w/XP ('cept all the posts I read on how bad it is) but I can tell you how to disable nView (& any other program) in 98SE: click 'start' > 'run' > type: 'msconfig.exe' in the box & click 'OK'. Go to the 'start-up' tab & click on it. Look for 'nwiz' & uncheck the box...
Brock24,
W/o an OS you won't get any video & since we have no idea at all what you're running (C64?, Apple?, Win 3.11?, NT?, 95?, 98?, 98SE?, W2K?, BEOS?, Linux?, XP?, etc) we can't give specific info to help ya. ;)
On my Compaq w/98SE I'd boot to 'safe mode' & run some diagnostics, after I...
SMO6,
1st thing I'd do is check w/ASUS for compatibility. If the board will support 2x-4x AGP: look at the GF3 Ti200 for $81US http://www.compuplus.com/insidepage.php3?refer=pricegrabber.com&id=573
If by some chance AGP won't work & you have an open PCI slot: look at the GF4 MX420 for $68US...
Hi ya Spidy,
I don't think it's the card: it's the game. I do have the card, but not the game. I've read elsewhere of a 'glitch' that even GF4's can't reach the 100fps.
On 'tweeking' the card: "Riva Tuner" www.guru3d.com While there: download "Detonator Destroyer" & the...
