Sounds like you've got w-a-a-a-a-y too many categories in that cube, espec. if you've got a category count measure too. Care to share what the category counts are on your model? I'm betting you're into the 100Ks.
Fall-back thought - got any Antivirus that's objecting to the disk-write and...
r-i-i-i-ght!
*deep breath*
If your macro fails, it's coz it's not opening impromptu. This could be for a number of reasons.
- you might have impromptu set to single session and a session open (perhaps invisible - check task manager). See the "read me" about switching single to multiple...
You debugging with f8 step-through? stick some error trapping in the macro - 'on error' - and that oughta help. Otherwise - got Impromptu open already in single session? Got two versions installed? Not registered inmpromptu in config. manager? Tried putting .cer4 (or whatcha version) after...
Dude,
that's many questions!
Check out the pdfs that come with Cognos - they're real helpful. If that's no good, get your employer to pony up for a Cognos course - I gather they make half their money off 'em, so they're not cheap!
BTW, mixing DBs in Impromptu is a no-no apart from the clunky...
Indeed. I maybe didn't explain my set-up sufficiently; If I understand event-based scheduling to be a 'job' triggered on the occurence of an event, it wouldn't really be suitable, as all my jobs (macros) are conditional on the availability of the DB and need to be run in sequence.
If the DB is...
Steve - thanks for replying.
The thread you reference is right if I just had a few jobs on the schedule, but I don't - I've got about five dozen in sequence and I'm not planning on crunching them up into one mother of a macro.
I decided to go the db way - update the 'NextRunTime' by 10 minutes...
At the risk of being labelled glib (and I'm taking that risk [wink]), why not try it both ways?
Can depend on no. of levels in a dimension - if your unique id is down low, it can take a bit more horsepower to build the structure and relationships with a multi-sourced model.
Guys (and gals),
I need to work out the best way to update Scheduler jobs, as the database used is sometimes late in being available.
Ideally, I need to check for the DB at a certain time and then every 1/4 hr or so if not there, either letting the jobs run or moving them back a 1/4.
At...
achaaran,
Possible that someone's been bigging up your data? I had descriptions that doubled when the DBA decided to combine a couple of fields and that maxed out the cube.
almeids,
You made my day, man. [smile]
Solved!
For some totally arcane reason, deleting a couple of data fields at the front of the iqd causes Transformer to reorder the iqd reads. Go figure. I just renamed them so as not to upset the model and now it builds sweet.
Dude,
you need a pipe to pass more than one prompt to the impromptu report - otherwise it's seen as just one prompt.
substitute +x+"|"+y for +x,+y in your openReport line
Hi dudes,
I have this most frustrating problem with iqds in Transformer. It is crucial that the data comes into the model in a certain order, yet the order of the iqds in the data source window has no effect. I have tried deleting one and adding it back in (having saved the model in the...
dude,
there ain't much stuff on Cognos other than that which Cognos produce - it's not like you can find Cognos for Dummies at Borders. Their website isn't bad for info - SUpportNet documents, product pdfs and the like.
ReportNet is not really something you can set up following a tt thread -...
CognosProfessional/Gary,
On the subject of licences, can you help me here? We have 50 web licences for PPWR and I maintain that this is concurrent users, given the parameters in the admin application. I can find nothing in the software or support licences that challenges this view. My company is...
