HMC and replaced RAM DIMM. Still have Deconfigured RAM

Hi, I hope it's okay to post a similar issue on this thread. I need to upgrade a p570 FW to 240_284 and going thru the procedure, I found out that a 2GB memory is deconfigured and it needs to be resolved before proceeding with the upgrade. Now, as p5wizard said, as user admin you can see the...

    HMC Critical Console Data

If my HMC drive failed, do I need to install the patches on top of the Recovery CD before I restore my BCCD? It seems to me that it's being backup so it should restore it. Thanks p5wizard!

    HMC Critical Console Data

Thanks. That's exactly what happened. After I upgraded to 5.1.0, I then installed the mandatory patches - 2 CDs at about 500MB each using the Install Corrective Service. Is there a way to avoid this. I saw a posting that suggested to do a Save Upgrade Data and boot from the CD. Are the patch...

    HMC Critical Console Data

Hi, I upgraded my HMC from 4.3.3 to 5.1.2 (with patch). I'm making a backup of the Critical Console Data and it's taking forever. It used to be about 30MB in 4.3.3 and not it's about 300MB and it's still growing. Is this normal? What's the typical size of CCD for V5.1.2. Just 1 partition by...

    VSA0 and VTY0

Duke, I really appreciate you taking time to help me on this. We finally fixed the issue yesterday and we found out the vsa0/vty0 do not exist in AIX 5200-04 - it's called sa0/tty0 which basically serves the same functionality. We're assuming that these devices names were changed in AIX 5.3...

    VSA0 and VTY0

Hi, Is there a way to recreate or reconfigure VSA0 and VTY0 on a p570, AIX 5.2, HMC 4.3.3 single partition system. "cfgmgr" does not seem to work. These devices don't show up using "lsdev" command. TIA!

    9111-520 AIX server power-on problem

Sam, you might want to check the link below. Just go to SEARCH and type LIST OF SYSTEM REFERENCE CODE, click the link then check for 110000AC. It looks like a power issue. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/index.jsp HTH

    Compaq HSG80

Graham, At the controller level, you can connect a terminal to your HSG80 if you have not already and run these commands; hsg80> show fail (will display failed disk) hsg80> locate disk000 (where disk000 is your failed disk. this command will identify the disk, watch for the blinking amber...

LED Codes on a 7133 D40 SSA Drawer

thanks ogniemi, this is an easier way to do it but i think the location codes for the enclosure and the disks inside the enclosure do not get updated unless you run cfgmgr or reboot the server. check it with lscfg.

There's also the IBM redbooks collection @ www.redbooks.ibm.com. Just search AIX and you can download the pdf files for free. In your case, I think the certification study guide will be most helpful to you. Check this link... http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg245129.html?Open

    Boot filaure RS6000 with SSA

Hi, use "lslv -m hd5" to locate your boot image/disk. and i think what AIX5L meant is to run "bosboot -a -d /dev/hdiskn" where hdiskn is your boot disk returned from the first command. this will re-create your boot image and do this under maintenance shell. if you want to check your bootlist...

    Expiring AIX passwords

hi, if you enter the expiration date for a user, you can get the value using the "lsuser" command (i.e. lsuser -f username) under the "expires" field". user parameters are also found in /etc/security/user. i'm sure you can develop a script that will check the value of "expires" field for all...
