Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

Oh boy, this does worry me. I hope the INX file option will continue to exist, for it my only escape to create small indesign files to send over the internet....(in my little village ADSL is still no option) thanks

Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

Well it is possible to back-save from 3 to 2. And it is funny to see that one cannot always UPgrade from a prerelease 2 to 3.... but who cares... CS is really much better....

Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

Hi, to all of you.... JUST FOR INFORMATION I recently upgraded to Indesign CS (=3.0) ..... and my file size problem has been solved completely... Where indesign files saved as .indd are at least 2 times bigger than equivalent pm7 files Indesign CS has introduced the option to export as Indesign...

Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

oups...i think you did not understand my little table: where one jpg in the pm7 doc took 116 bytes, the same jpg in the IND-doc took 1284 bytes. That is 10 times as much! That is not very minimal to me.. (funny is that the PM7 doc actually decreases a little when i place the first graphic, i...

Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

That is funny...you are finding the opposite okay..i did an other little test (i always place files with Place (or ctlr-D)not copy/paste... i create a new doc and save it immediatly (so it is an empty A4-doc) in both programs than i place in these empty docs one jpg of 2854 bytes than i place...

Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

well, that does not help either... me neither, i dont expect awnsers from the writers... that is exactly why i asked this question in this forum so i can discuss it with others....if one cannot do this, or there is no reaction at all, what is the use of this forum? But, never mind and although...

Filesizes INDD in comparison to PM7

Hi, I have lots of experience with PM7 and want to migrate to INDD. I work a lot over the internet so i frequently use linked references to graphics to limit the filesize of the pm7-document. INDD seems to have the same option: link instead of embed; but the resulting filesize of the INDD-file...

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

Okay, point for you (and a star)

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

Yes, that was new to me, you did it in 5 clicks. I did not know one could simple drag over the layerlist to lock all layers at once. That's a nice feature. Also selecting objects and some nodes only from another object come in handy in this case. But you did not count several clicks you needed...

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

yAQUAN, you are right, I abused of a capital D where it should be 'd' so the right adress is: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/rob.lieveloo/lab3d.ai XLCS, yes that's right all those sublayers do exist in my drawing, but like you say, this is not cutting down on mouse-clicks and that is precisely my...

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

okay, i have placed a simplified version of a drawing in http://perso.wanadoo.fr/rob.lieveloo/lab3D.ai (this is AI10) This is a (not very complex) illustration i made within 1 hour in Coreldraw yesterday and exported it to AI (can AI do it this fast?) It represents a airconditioning-layout for...

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

Thanks, for your advise.... But still............all methods you mention are only workarounds to lessen the pain in my wrist; they do not give a fundamental solution. I work mostly with very technical drawings with hundreds/ thousants often overlapping elements, different coulours, and strokes...

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

Yessss jAQUAN, I knew i could count on your reaction...thanks for that, but i think your awnser does not do the trick...... I did understand the functioning of these selection tools (i think), but still think you will need at least 101 clicks in order to move the 100 small objects out of the way...

Selecting objects in AI-10 and gripsizes

I'm fearly new to Illustrator and come from Coreldraw, so please forgive me my ignorance.... I have two questions...... When I want to select a series of objects in CD i drag a rectangle around them, ensuring that other objects i don't want to select, are not completely within the rectangle (so...
