wbg34,
I did what you said but I had to do it a little different. I am behind a NAT Router with port forwarding enable. I had to create host records for my web server with www.blah.com with my public ip address. So, I had to do the same with mail.blah.com. Then I created an MX record and...
I have a dns, web and email server on the same host using win2000 adv server. Now I know this isnt a good idea but this is all I got until I build another server. My server name is ns1.blah.com. My email server is using the following for email: incoming:ns1.blah.com and my outgoing is using...
Please disregard last reply i read back to another thread i ask about a month ago and that answered my question on the dot. Boy, you talk about errors I had an I-d-10-t error.
Well ppl I actually found a way to resolve my domain name to my public ip address that is behind a router/firewall. it is very simple, 1st. you right click on network places and go to properties. 2nd, you go to the properties of your WAN NIC (if you have one then choose that one if two choose...
Be honest, I dont want nobody else to resolve my domain name because I plan to host others also and I would like to resolve for them also. I had a whole year of training with Cisco and none for MS Server. I need the experience so I can look ahead hopefully to a better future. So, I really need...
Ok, I posted here before but I am again having problems trying to get my WAN address correctly set to domain name. I am running win 2000 advance server behind a Linksys router. My win 2000 machine has only 1 NIC in it connecting to my router which is connected to my DSL modem. I am also running...
I found the problem, it was on client side. I had to go to advance settings and check log on to using the user name and password only for authentication. I sent a test with no errors. Thanks
Ok, I found one problem. I send a test from outlook express from the server itself with no problem. It seems to be a client problem negotiating with server for email. How do i fix problem?
For some reason when i try to send a test email to a friend i get and error within outlook stating error on sending from etekdesigns.com. So, I went to dnsreport.com to see if everything was correct and the following what showed on the test:
WARN: One or more of your mailservers does not...
ok i figuered it out. I was browsing for server under the browse tab instead of just typing in my public address. i typed in public address for www.blah.com, host, and MX records will this work?
heres what i did i created an A record with ip address of public. Next I created an Alias of www pointing that to the record i just made. I closed out dns interface and nslookup www.blah.com great it came back with public ip address. then i opened the dns interface again what do i see in forward...
So, I need to create another host record with my public ip address then create an A record of www pointing that record to the host record with public ip address? do i have that right? and then i need to do same with MX records?
Ok here is my situation. I registered a domain blah.com with InterNIC. I have a static IP address with sprint and I am on dsl. First, my problem started with sprint. They do not provide webservices for home users with dsl. Great, had to be my luck. The only other solution was for me to try...
