You definately can use the v9.0 Remote Agent with the v8.6 Server.
We have an 8.6 Media server with 2 v8.6 Remote Agents and 3 v9.0 Remote Agents and all of them work perfectly.
I was also informed of this by Veritas and our Independent Third Party supplier who has licence specialists at hand...
I have a backup job running on BE 8.6 doing a full backup of the local machine (Exchange Server 2000).
For the last two nights, when it comes to verify the

Have you installed the Veritas drivers for the backup devices. I had problems with a tape drive using it's own driver and it worked after I ran throught the device configuration and installed the veritas tape drivers.

After all my recent problems with BE 8.6, we have now experienced a new error. After rebooting the server last night none of the scheduled jobs ran.
They just sit there as scheduled jobs and even if I try the Run Now option the activity monitor just says that they are scheduled for right now...
